Setting ACL's from Windows as root works mostly with Win7 or XP professional
but not with home editions (And you cannot use deny rules from Windows at all)
But you can set folder ACL via napp-it's ACL extension.
Resetting ACL, user ACL and trivial ACL like everyone@ are free options.
the question about disk replace with GUID?
this was answered
Yea.. Works on Win7 but not Win2k8R2...
However, I tried to create a OI user "Administrator" but for some reason machine logged on as administrator dont have access.... however if I have userX, and a machine with userX and the same password can access without any pw prompt. perhaps there is something special with the user administrator.
Nothing after that. Any ideas?admin@ZFS2:~$ wget -O - www.napp-it.org/nappit | perl

I think ESXi requires V3 acls, not V4. I just chown the folder to nobody:nobody, mode 755. The set sharenfs to "[email protected]" (the IP of ESXi). If this is exported via nfs why are you setting smb-share?
I assume you are asking about an all-in-one setup? That's the only reason you would care about vt-d (for pci passthru). If not doing that, you don't care, and vt-x is NOT the same that is CPU virtualization.
Is anyone running ZFS on non VT-d (Direct I/O path) hardware? Is it needed? or will VT-x work? I have a Dell 1950 PE that I run my ESX 5.0 on now that I would like to use.
v4 works too, however, if you're not also doing [email protected] you'll have problems. esxi runs as root and mounts as root so just copy the ACL from RW into root and it should work fine.
disk replace, see
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19253-01/819-5461/gbcet/index.html
if you use napp-it < 0.8i, there was an update in 0.8i
wth replacing discs based on disc GUID instead of id
http://www.napp-it.org/downloads/changelog.html
this may solve this problem too
Just wondering if anyone tried this
There is a file manager android app called ES File Explorer, it support SMB, however I can't get it to authenticate to SMB over wifi, I keep getting "Login failure"
If anyone else got an android device and is willing to give it a try let me know.
Thanks!
Updated to 0.8k and the problem still exists. I really dont' want to screw up replacing the disk and cause more problems for myself. However i did try to do it via command line and kept getting errors I have included an additional screenshot that shows the zpool status's

The usual way to solve problems due to missing disks is
- disk replace GUID -> new disk
- or add a hotspare to the pool
btw
- what replace command did you tried
- error messages?
and
a 10disk raid-z1 is way to much. The possibility of a two disk failure is too high

Hi guys I'm trying to setup my cyberpower UPS but have been unsuccessful =(
At first I thought I installed the wrong drivers but
for x86_64 i get
pwrstatd: Cannot find /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2
for i386 i get
pwrstatd: Cannot find /lib/ld-linux.so.2
So I did a uname -i -> i86pc ? so is my OI install 32bit or 64 bit so confuse. Check google and it said "Solaris uses a common code base for the platforms it supports: SPARC and i86pc (which includes both x86 and x86-64)" ?_?
can I some how install the missing lib ?
there was also .deb and .rpm drivers but I only remember using .tar
thank guys still trying to get used to all these commands
And it doesn't appear they provide source so it could be recompiled on anything else.I suppose its just a Linux application that will not run on OI/Unix

I only have OI on the nas no esxi = (
Which is fine, using ESXi is free for the basic hypervisor and if you've got a motherboard that supports VT-d then it's a handy way to run something like a napp-it 'all in one' box.I only have OI on the nas no esxi = (
You can try apcupsd. It works on OI but I could only get it to run with an APC ups. May need to get an apc ups if you so desire

Also, I found SambaExplorer worked for me, although slow and not a great interface
