You want Amanda with the S3 taper to backup your files to Amazon's S3 service. Works best if you have a big pipe.

You could do the above, or pay a small amount with some other offsite backups.

rsync over ssh with key pair works great. Once you code the scripts to call it properly, it's set and forget, and the data is sent over an encrypted channel. that's what I use for my offsite backups.

I seem to be interrupting this differently than others.

Are you trying to use YOUR server as the place files are back-up'ed to via the internet. So that say, you, or even other people could backup their files to it from remote locations?

Wouldnt a simple FTP server suffice for this?
