A place to keep track of news for monitors coming out using this new, dare I say, "end game" gaming display panel.

While pursuing innovation in display technology, AUO commits to energy conservation and environmental sustainability, and continues to develop inkjet printing OLED technology, which has a higher material utilization rate than traditional evaporation techniques. AUO’s 32-inch UHD 4K inkjet printing OLED panel is driven by oxide backplane and offers industry-leading ultra-high frame rate of 144Hz with 4K 140 PPI resolution. The inkjet printing OLED technology will meet the increasing demand for high image quality and high frame rate in both medical and gaming applications.
 
Now that sounds promising. 4K 144hz OLED monitors may be a thing in the near future.
 
It does sound cool... but challenges remain:

Unfortunately, OLED inkjet printing is not yet common, as printing OLED displays is a relatively challenging task for many reasons. A number of layers need to be deposited in pixels (the size of the pixels themselves is defined by the overall resolution the display will have). Being able to place the right number of drops of the active materials into the pixels is a challenge, in addition to developing a process in which the ink dries to deliver flat films of materials in the pixel.

Despite major progress, it is maintained that soluble OLED materials (required for inkjet printing) are less effective than evaporable ones. Ink-Jet printing is also not able to reach the same high densities of evaporation OLED production, which limits its applications for large-area production (TV panels) and not small mobile, VR and wearable OLEDs.

If it follows the trends of AUO’s previous release timelines, I wouldn’t expect an actual off-the-shelf product for another five years, for reasons such as what DarkSideA8 highlighted.

And for a true endgame panel, I think it’ll eventually be MicroLED and seeing that in the monitor space is probably a decade away at the earliest.
 
Sounds good for smaller screens.

I didn't see any mention of HDR (and not any of the advanced HDR features TVs have) though. If anyone hears anything about that please post in a reply.

4k @ 32" is only ~138 ppi, so I don't think this has any real impact on these specific panels. I believe this is more relevant to extra high pixel density displays (300-400+) like in smartphones.
 
Needs to be released in an ultra wide format.

My X34 is getting long in the tooth.
