I shucked a bunch of 4TB Seagate Backup Plus drives years ago and was curious if I could put a new drive in the enclosure and it would just work? Like one of the Exos 18TB drives or something.

Honestly it depends on which one you have. Some were SATA models with a USB &/or eSATA daughterboard that plugged into the main drive PCB and some were no SATA and onlydirect USB on the drives PCB. If you have the SATA varient it should be fine. If not, no.

Looks like I have the SATA variant, so hopefully I'll be all set. Thanks.

unless theres firmware locked to certain models, which i doubt, it should work and it wont hurt to try.
