Ok, FEAR freaked me out

Wasn´t his name Jankowski? That´s the other F.E.A.R. operative you start with right? When do you get any other word about what happens to him?

Oh yeah, you want it scary? Imagine having your electricity cut a few minutes after you see Alma destroy Wade at 3 in the morning. Almost as bad as when we had the lights go out while the credits to the Grudge were rolling.

Your right I just copied his name from the person who originally asked. Yeh Perfect timed power outages would really add to the story. They should make so you computer sends a surge at the right moment and flips the breaker.

If Fettel had not killed the girl he kidnapped at the end I would not have found it so easy to blow him away. He said something like she told me much before she died and at that point I knew he was toast...............

Yeah your right I mean she was your Aunt and all.

cloakers!!! dam it iam not even that far into the game, but i luv it soo far. awesome graphics and the sound....... amazing. too bad i gotta do my math HW now. next up is COD2 whenever i get a chance to get my hands on it. This game sounds way better with my z-5500s then my 3 yr old creative 5.1s lol.

I just got this game to install on my computer and I swear, this might bring me back into computer gaming. This game is fantastic in literally every way.

Definitely a tad cliche with the Samara look alike, but it keeps up a very forboding gameplay, that's for sure. And the engine...wow.

I still can't believe that the same company that created Alien vs. Predator 2 is responsible for this game.

I wanted the family back together. I want to destroy F.E.A.R and Armatek. Let me join the dark side dammit!:(

I want my mommy.

I got this game 2 days ago (My pre-order finally came in *sigh*) In anycase, I played for the first time today, and ...

Mini-Spoiler:

When Alma runs at you in that little tunnel/vent thing, I nearly fell out of my seat and my heart seriously skipped.
/mini spoiler.

Monolith did a great job of making this game freaky as hell. However, like movies, I believe that half the scare factor exist in the music. That repetive high-pitched build up music they have that keeps going. I turned that off to see how it would affect the game in terms of scariness and, well the music does add a lot.

Honestly, I find the scare factor in the HUD when you receive an "unknown origin" signal that flickers your entire HUD while moving to a normally darker environment and the sounds of failing equipment. Very ominous, very good touch.

I also forgot to mention my deep adoration for the particle effects and the destructible environment. Absolutely stunning when you attempt a run-and-gun tactic on the soldiers and you're spraying wildly, blowing holes in boxes, walls, shattering lights, etc.

I know exactly where you are talking.
I have played the game 3 times now and everytime I get to that spot I feel the hair on my arms stand up!

I don't know about you but the first level in that game had me freaked out.you move through the level and and nothing is happening but strange sounds, the odd light flicker, the music building up... NOTHING... you just know something bad is about to happen though. Then you flip that switch and all the Aliens start coming!
I was very freaked out.

The game sucked when I was fighting people. I wanted to be scared more by that ghost girl instead of fighting.

The whole game was about fighting people that look like they're straight from Counter Strike and then you get 2 minutes of scary stuff. More troopers and 10 minutes later that ghost girl was back.

Remember if you've shot one trooper in every game you've shot enough troopers to last a life time.

Seriously couldn't they have come up with something else for me to fight? Anything but troopers.

Well I guess Alma is still very alive and well spiritually. I mean she did step out of the vault and OWN her dad.

Well at least there was a good reason why you spent the whole game fighting the same 7 classes of bad guys... THEY WERE CLONES.

Also What would you rather be fighting? The Percious Soldiers made sense for the plot.

Exactly.

I wonder if the insurgents in Iraq are sitting there going: "God damnit. I thought I just killed that guy? Why in the hell do we keep fighting the same American soldiers in the same American uniforms with the same American weaponry? HEY AMERICANS...CHANGE IT UP A BIT!! PUT SOME FUCKING JEANS ON!!!"

Seriously. They were clones in FEAR, they were also trained soldiers. Soldiers wear identical uniforms, soldiers carry they same array of weaponry as their comrades do.

..alot of white dudes coming at me with rifles is scary ..what are you talking about "off-topic" ..?!

Here we go again

The game wasn't really scary to me but rather spooky.Nothing really made me jump out of my chair.

Spoiler sort of:

The ghosts at the end with the yellow eyes staring at you while chasing you did make my blood turn cold sending chills down my spine while I was empting magazines into them screaming "oorah!"

=\

Finished the game today. Damn, the cloakers freaked the crap out of me at least twice... Once when they just appeared and the other time in that one abandoned warehouse type thing.. I heard the glass break and jumped, then I realized I wasnt alone in the room... Those ghost things at the end freaked me out when they just kept coming out of nowhere. Near the end of the game I was so on the edge that a soldier freaked me out. I was walking up the stairs when suddenly I saw a head and 2 eyes sticking up from behind a crate... I just started running around and firing every which way. The falling elevator, Alma crawling in the vent, and that one part where everything turned black and white and she ran from shadow to shadow along the opposite wall, without facing you.. Unless that wasnt her. Either way I get chills just remembering the scene.

After beating the game I went for some MP action and jumped when someone started shooting at me and then jumped from my own shadow... My nervous system is on high alert for the rest of the night :p

I am playing it again on hard difficulty now after beating it both on easy and normal difficulty  There is a part where you crawl through an air duct in interval 5 or 6,something was crawling at me in the semi dark vent, didnt know if it was a rat or what but it spooked me cos I wasnt really paying attention. The Simpsons was on the TV,turned back to look at my monitor and theres this thing almost in my face whick caused me to jump and empty a magazine. BOO!

Not that anybody cares but just thought that I would share.
