I can't see this being faster than the 980ti just because all the stock on dealers shelves.
They have a way to make it slower maybe only until the stock is depleted on the 980's.
Can't see them selling a $300 card that is faster than their $500+ card that is still for sale.

It is kinda funny to me that the 1070 seems to be truncated from $380 to $300. If you want to round anywhere, call it a $400 card and then see how it compares to the Ti.

Yep, word on the street is that Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi aren't too happy about their monopoly being threatened by HardOCP, and are thinking of using the Cobra Kai (who are now their delivery boys/lackeys) to pay Kyle & Co. a "visit". The good news is, both Ali and Jessica are reportedly barefoot and pregnant from Daniel-san's new "adventures", and, being both divorcees, are more than eager to sue "Bonsai Trees", since Daniel-san was too young to understand what the heck "child support" was at the time of the pregnancies/divorce (claiming that it was all "karate teaching from Mr. Miyagi", to which Miyagi responded with, "Hai, Daniel-san. Greatest test in karate is have tournament after 10 hours bonsai with girl"). Reportedly, two destitute and homeless men, who go by the names of "Kreese" and "Terry", are also interested in a lawsuit. Seemingly forgotten is some Japanese tourist who claims that she, too, was given a "bonsai gift" by Daniel-san, but (so far) is not being taken seriously by anyone, not even the tabloids.

Is there an NDA on 1070 still? Or is there any word on when a 1070 review will come out?

"*VR Performance based on Barbarian benchmark.
    Intel Core i7-5960x, 16 GB DDR4 memory, X99 motherboard."

this is on both the 1080 and 1070 page with the performance graphs. WTF is Barbarian benchmark?

Single card is always better than sli. It's better buy 1070 now, sell it and buy 1080ti later. Or simply upgrade to next x70 as smart people usually do ;)

I understand that. But does anybody know when reviewers are supposed to get 1070s?

The "Full Specs" page on that Nvidia GTX 1070 site sure is barebones. Hardly the "Full Specs".
I am interested to see if it will have the full 2048KB of L2 cache. Hopefully the correct L2 cache size and number of ROP units is published by Nvidia and reviewers this time.

Also, it looks like it will trade blows with the GTX 980Ti and Titan X to me. If it has the same reported issues as the FE GTX 1080 has when overclocking though, it might overclock a bit lower, percent performance increase wise.

I'd like one of these to replace my 3 year old gtx780. Get a nice performance bump and hopefully a little quieter and cooler.

According to Anandtech the GTX 1070 FE will be using heatpipes (likely flat embedded into the baseplate) and not a vapor chamber. Explains the $30 difference then.

Yeah I know the wait will be at least untill christmas or even more, but did you notice "Still on 2 GTX580's in SLI here" these are FERMI cards ;) so i've waited quite a while now.... Can wait a bit more, and im watercooling everything, so buying a GTX1070 or GTX1080 and slabbing a GPU block on that will not make it a great re-sell value :S

That is some nasty cut. Much bigger than 670/680 and 970/980.

    33% less Cuda Cores. Damn.

I'm sure folks will be doing vram bandwidth tests with CUDA asap, see if it's not another "970" 1070 edition with 7GB 224GB/s + 1GB 32GB/s fake specs again. lol

Considering cost comparison with 1080 and how well that card performs, this still seems better value and without the crippling caused by the memory with the 970... yeah queue the fake spec memory jokes that will appear everywhere :)
For its price, this is still a bargain even if it performs just under a 980ti/titan x, just that it will not scale as well as the 1080, which IMO is not value for money in same way the 980 was expensive as well compared to the 970/980ti.
    Cheers

Hate to break it to you, but plants don't respond well to overclocking, very much so that you see diminishing returns, as the light intensity is increased beyond 400-500umol/m2.

    [H]ardOCP becomes [H]ardOCPlants.

Figures, the chips are made in manufacturing PLANTS after all, would be good to go back to the roots that we stemmed from.

I'm sure it's some sort of exchange rate issue. What we think, 2 weeks until benchmarks?

That's correct, a proper imperial gallon is 8 pints or just over 4.5 litres for those of a metric disposition

On a serious note looking at one of these for either my daily driver or a folding rig, That way I can replace my old 670. Since I'm only on 1080p gaming a 1080 will be overkill.

Hell id pay for itself in less than 5 years if it was a 24/7 rig, i think the 670 idled at like 75-100 watts, vs this is like 5 watts.

Well the whole rig should really be upgraded but I don't play the most graphically demanding games, even the latest Doom will be fine at 1080p on a 980ti.

As for idle the rig currently sits at 173w from the wall, that's on a 5 year old Corsair HX1000w PSU and a pair of westmere based xeon's @2.93 + the 670

I don't know about that. Pretty sure the same was said about the 970. I bought a pair of those at launch and replaced them with a single Titan X 6 months later. It looks like I'll be getting about 2.5 years out of the Titan X.

I also have 670 SLI, I believe it is more like 780ti which is a bit below a 970.. even lower on vram hungry games. luckily I play at 1080p and am still ok for a bit

+ clock speeds so we are looking at around 30% slower than the 1080, now is the price worth it from the 1070 to the 1080? Depends i guess i want the 1080 but £600 is prett steep and is the price of the 980Ti when that first came out. I can't make my mind up, i won't touch SLI tho. Had bad experiences with it and can't see my opinion changing anytime soon.

I wish AMD had something both for their cpu and gpu offerings.
But I think they have said for years just you wait and see.
    and NOTHING was ever done.

AMD is out of both the CPU and GPU markets to people like us.
They will get the low middle and say they won.

So the 1070 will be slower than the 980, they will cut the price of the 980 to get rid of the glut on the market, then they will bring out the 1070ti for $450 and it will beat the old 980ti.

just like intel they can do what they want since there is no competition...Founders club ROFL
they found your anus, better get to looking for your panties

did they ever say officially how much memory was on the card?
Will aftermarket be able to use the new memory?

Because the 1070 is replacing the 970.
Reviewers on the other hand can compare it to whatever they want.

Ha...you guys in here talking about small jumps from your 970s and 980tis in here.....I am still using a GTX 660 and this 1070 is the bizness for me. I am looking at 1440p monitors and trying to find a deal on one to get ready to upgrade from 1080P.

Good plan. I think the fast sync feature might make my 60hz IPS 1440p monitor sufficient for games (FPS style) on a 1070 at pretty high playable settings. Looking forward to some benchies and more reviews of how the fast sync setting improves gameplay on 60hz monitors.

I still don't see anywhere if the reviews will become available 10 days before the official release like with 1080, i.e. 30th May or 1st June.
