The funny thing is that there are a bunch of 6700 XT on craiglist (at least in my area) for $950 or so whereas the few 3060 ti up for sale start at $1200. I don't understand who will pay 30% more for slower performance.
I’d definitely take a 3060Ti over a 6700xt.
Ray tracing with DLSS works great with Cyberpunk 2077 and lets you absolutely max out settings on the 3060ti (DLSS in balanced mode) and still get about 50FPS at 1440p. Check out CyberPunk 2077 benchmarks. AMD cards without DLSS will not even be able to play anywhere nearly as smoothly when they attempt Ray Tracing and all max settings.



I wouldn’t pay anywhere close to $1200 for either of those cards though — that’s crazy.

Same here, big fat nothing from today's Best Buy drop, also couldn't even add to my cart.

If Cyberpunk and Control with raytracing are major sticking points for you-----yeah, get a 3060ti. But otherwise, 6700XT is generally faster in many games which don't have raytracing. and is more or less a match for some other games which do have raytracing.

DLSS is really cool and has generally been better quality in the recent supported titles. But I still feel its not common enough to count on as a feature. I only own 2 games with DLSS and none with RT. Although I did pre-order RE:Village.

Like, I bought Nioh 2 and like it pretty well. DLSS was patched in after the first couple of weeks of release. that was really cool for my RTX 2060. But I wouldn't shy away from a 6700xt because of that.

*AMD does also have their Fidelity FX Super Resolution tech coming down the pipe sometime this year. Which is meant as an answer to DLSS.

The only reason to take a 3060Ti at $1200 over a 6700XT at $900 is the ETH mining hashrate. I wouldn't pay $300 extra for spotty RT/DLSS support this generation.
Is that what the going rte for 3060ti is? god damn... double the msrp is now a "good price" and triple is the going rate?
 
BestBuy has had a few rigs for $1,199 today with the 3060. I decided to grab one since nobody is selling bare cards at or near MSRP anymore. $1,199 for Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram, 3060 (non-TI), 1Tb hdd + 512Gb SSD isn't that bad. I had a similar spec HP on order, but cancelled it since the cyberpower had 4 ram slots instead of 2, included the extra 1tb hdd, had a better looking case (imho), and would be available for local pickup 3 weeks sooner.
 
Not really. It's the same power draw. It's just theoretically "cheaper" than a 3070.
From stock tdp sure but from what I hear miners are able to tweak the clocks and voltage for it to run more efficiently than the 3070, though maybe you can nearly accomplish the same on a 3070.

All the tweaking I managed got them to essentially the same 120W for 60 MH.
 
My Asus Strix 3070 mining card is my most efficient card somehow of 8 ampere cards. (it beats my three 3060TI cards), but my EVGA 3060TI is not as efficient as my Nvidia FE 3060TI

I have three 3060TI and two 3070 and three 3080.

Within 5% or so - 3060TI and 3070 cards mine Ethereum about the same. generally 120-130 watts at ~58-61MHs.

In order of cards: (spent quite a bit of time optimizing each of these)
Alienware/Dell OEM 3080 - 100Mhs at 223W (might be able to crank on the memory a bit more -- this is my newest card and I haven't eeked out every last bit of performance - this card is surprisingly excellent (considering I didn’t expect it to be anything more than bottom of the barrel), but it is louder than the AIB cards)
EVGA X3 3080 101Mhs at 238W (can't get power any lower because hash rate dives hard - like one tick lower on power target in afterburner drops hashrate by 5Mhs.)
Asus Strix 3070 60Mhs at 116W (this is my most efficient card at 516KH/J)
Next two - EVGA 3070 or Nvidia 3070 FE - both about the same ~ 60Mhs at 130W
Final two - Nvidia 3060 TI FE - both about the same 58Mhs at 122W (silicon lotter shows a bit of a difference with same settings).

My Asus Tuf OC 3080 is in my gaming machine and not shown here. It is more like the Alienware 3080 in power use and hits 101Mhs. It’s probably the best of the 3080 cards I own.

I’m not as knowledgeable about tweaking Radeon cards for efficiency but it seems like my 6800xt is getting in the 61 mh/s range at about 120 w.

Yea now thinking of keeping the 3090 FE and the RX 6800 'FE', and selling the 3090 FTW3 locally. Need to plan for summer heat here.

The plain 6800 is probably the best bang for the buck as it has the same memory as the bigger cards just a "lower price." I had mine at 60MH at 120W. I ended up trading it toward a 3080.

That's pretty normal for those cards. They also run cooler than the GDDR6X based cards so that is a plus also.
 
My 3090s average between 110-120 Mh/s depending on the temperatures, even though RAM junction is always below 100c on both cards, it will still throttle a bit as temp of the cards go from 50s in the night to 60s in the day (GPU core temp in celcius). And blowing on the backplate (instead of blowing away) with a 120mm fan leads to better steady state results even though it probably creates some localized turbulence.

Just curious, what is your setting for the Alienware rtx 3080 to get that hash rate? and how is the temp?

I'm convinced the Strix cards have high quality capacitors, cooling and better power delivery.
 
I wish there were kind souls who would sell an RTX 3070/3080 at cost prices. This is getting ridiculous. I havnt been able to get one yet.... anywhere.

They're selling (probably) hundreds or thousands of items at a time. Newegg is a MAJOR retailer, they get shipping containers full of stuff. When they put a 3070 up on shuffle they're not selling one or two, they're selling hundreds or thousands of them THAT DAY.

You can calculate the odds of it yourself, but the chances of never winning anything if the actual odds are 1 in 100,000 are 99.95% if you've entered into every Shuffle so far (using number of shuffles = 50).

The actual average odds are probably something between 1% and .1% (1 in 100 and 1 in 1000), with hundreds of each item on average being available in any given shuffle.

Yeah it's annoying, because the people who DO have one, have a dozen of the F'n things. I bought a $30k CNC lathe instead. :/ Trying to get rid of $$ before it's totally worthless.

I am 0-51 on the shuffle. I also ask two friends of mine to enter for me, and they do sometimes and have also yet to win. I don't just pick one item each time, only ruling out consoles, intel cpus, and the absolute insane combos (3090s with water cooled mobos for 3k type) You are lucky, and people like me are unlucky. I think 1 in 100,000 is actually too good of a chance.
 
I have not missed a shuffle and have not won once.
I have been telling a couple of buddies who are looking to upgrade to enter as well for the past month or so and no dice.
