I can't justify 150 bones no matter how much I love star wars. I just feel like a dumb ass for some reason laying out that much for 1 game no matter what extra crap they add in. 80 bucks for the digitaal deluxe was MORE than enough imo and still too much in all honesty. That 70 dollars more pays 5 months of game time or buys me another full game for christ sake. I mean at 100 bucks they would have had me, 150 pass sadly. the practical side of my brain won this battle, just couldn't pull the trigger and not end up with buyer's remorse at that retarded price.

That's cool, I totally understand where you're coming from.

Personally it has been so long since I've been really excited for ANY game (can't even remember which game that was. Probably ME2 and that was IT) so I'm happy to have something to spend my money on aside from $5 steam sale games I play for an hour and never touch again.

Just can't wait to play the game. I'm growing tired of all the hype and fanfare just give us the fuckin game already. / sigh
 
Just throwing this out there but there are 900 voice actors for all 3 languages in this game. That is just amazing.
 
The gentle giant figurines look like they go for $60-80, so if you take away that it comes back close to other MMO CE’s of the past

The digital deluxe is pure gravy for EA, no box, no middleman and they charge $10 more for virtual fluff.

I wonder how much effort they will put into the collector’s store for a small minority? They said at comic-con that it will use in game credits so there’s no incentive for them to make it appealing to get money from micro-transactions. I’m guessing at some point they will offer a digital upgrade for access to the rest of the player base.

All the publisher and marketing BS aside I cannot wait for this MMO
 
I know that the first movies took place 3,000 years after the time period of the MMO so this might not be practical to suggest. But if they added in costumes like Princess Leia's slave outfit, Lando, Han Solo, Bobba Fett, etc to the VIP area it would be pretty darn cool. Leave them exclusive for say 3 months then release them via microtransactions to the regular player base when the CE owners get a new set of outfits to purchase.

Quite sure I murdered the spelling on the names above. Sorry.

Like most CEs, its really a prepackage of micro transaction type gear. Although EA is taking it to new levels here.The Darth Mal doll could hold some value a long time from now depending on number produced.
 
Lots of interesting info from the Old Republic panel by Bioware. UI Customizations are currently locked but they plan to open it up for modding. There will be an entire planet for "Operations" or raids and flash points.

Most of the other questions were about guild structures and such. Of course the release date question was asked with no response ..go figure.

But the impressive part was that they didn't just blurt out responses , they didn't just respond to a question for the sake of hyping and that impressed me. So many MMO games get just an ocean of hype before release and its a positive sign that they respect the gaming audience enough to not just respond for the sake of it and make promises they have no intention on keeping.

Now the video is fixed and back up to watch the entire length.

At the last minute, they give a release date :eek: They are targeting a "Holiday 2011" release, but that they are trying to make a very polished and complete game to launch, so that is not 100% set in stone. Would not surprise me at all, if it is delayed to Feb/March 2012.

Ok cool I'll watch it in full later on, thanks for the heads up. Ya they have said holiday 2011 launch since thursday when they announced pre orders.

I am VERY interested in this game after watching that hour long video, it looks to be the first MMO that can dethrone WoW. I say take their time in finishing it, so what if it's delayed a few more months into 2012, in the grand scheme of things, this is a game that will be going strong for 5+ years after release.

Do it right, and don't rush it out like WarHammer.

No doubt. I would rather it come later than sooner if it means a successful game vs a failure.
 
But I would guess it will release in late Nov / early Dec, that still gives them 3 - 4 months to wrap things up. Late Fall were some of the best release months for WoW, and is the best time to start a new MMO, have all cold and dark winter to sink into the game :)

You guys will enjoy the game :). I can say that much testing it. It's the game I was waiting for & it'll replace WoW for sure. I will still purchase the WoW CE's though just to keep the unique box collection going :p.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I know your under NDA, but can you at least say the game workd is truly open ended, meaning are we free to explore the map anywhere we want ? No invisible fences stopping us from going deep into the forest if we like, or driver our LandSpeeder off into the sunset on Tatooine ?

I am really starting to get the itch for this game now. I quit WoW for good this past spring. It was great for 6 years, time to move on. Hopefully ToR is a worthy replacement, to last just as long :)

They have pretty much said the starter worlds are not too open and kind of point you towards the quest...I am sure this is to help n00bs who have never played MMO's before to get the hang of it...

Once your start leveling up then the worlds really start to open up...

The starter planets are not open at all. There are paths that you follow to get to POI's which have quests. When you advance in levels and planets, they get increasingly larger and open. For example, Tatooine is huge and Hoth is just massively open.

On a side note, they haven't opened up raids yet in beta so I'm hoping they do when they release the new beta build. For now, the leveling process is nice and doesn't feel like a "I have to reach 50 right away" grind. But this game will either sink or swim based on the end game content.

I started the other just to let everyone know that the preorder was available as it was limited and started early in the morning for me. If I had just posted it in the other thread it would have gotten lost in the discussion. I didn't intend to open a lively discussion in 2 different threads. I think 99% of the discussion happens here though.

Ask a moderator to close the preorder thread if you like. It did what it was intended to do; quickly mobilize the [H] community to get their preorders in.

You could have easily posted it here. I mean anyone interested in TOR is either reading this thread or they aren't if they aren't into anything TOR related but whatever. I made this thread for just that...ANYTHING related to TOR. Anything includes preorder details, discussion and the like. I've also gone out of my way to make sure the thread here stays ciurrent with the latest up to date info we have from betacake and other places. So ya I would just like to not see my effort go to waste is all. Whatever I guess. If this thread dies it dies.

They did post the preorder info in this thread first. But nobody saw it / paid attention to it. I just tried to get the word out a little faster is all. And it did work as you see how many people started discussing the preorder pricing and stuff. Just ask a moderator to close the other thread. You have my blessing.
