Guess I already owned The Missing Link, shows $4.99 for Director's Cut. Now I just have to figure out what exactly I'm gaining with this -- "fixed boss battles"? That it? Confused because one site called the Director's Cut "Basically DE:HR with The Missing Link included"

Edit: According to the Wiki: "The Director's Cut features approximately 8 hours of director's commentaries and a 45 minute “Making Of” video. It also features an improved visual engine and lighting system; fog and smoother shadows; with The Missing Link DLC now integrated into the base game. Enemy AI also received a polishing."

With the exception of the "making of" and 8hrs director commentary, seems like a lot of fixes they could've just patched into the game, but oh well because on the other hand most developers these days dont even bother making a bunch of fixes two years after their game shipped. Hate to admit but there are many other games I'd gladly pay a fee to have them get additional attention from the developer in the way of fixes but they won't because they're a couple years old.

its its own game
just type deus ex in the search box
if you have the base game it should only be 10 bucks

There was no pre-order, had to wait for it to become available

Also it doesn't merge content with the original, or carry achievements over, for whatever that's worth.

For the original version, there was once an Inventory Mod which shrank the sizes of items in your inventory (ie a gun that was 2x6 may be 1x4 etc..) and altered stack sizes (ie 255 instead of 5 or 10). I wonder if anything will arise for this version? It really made the original much more enjoyable/playable. Especially considering there's no "item bank" as far as I know where you can store things and come back to get them if you need them later.

Just bought this. No idea why. I don't remember anything wrong with the boss battles.

The criticism regarding the boss battles was that they were forced action combat sequences essentially whereas the rest of the game (and its predecessors in terms of boss battles) gave you options in terms of how to tackle all other situations without resorting to direct combat.

I thought of the boss battles to be very similar to the Playstation/Playstation 2 Metal Gear Solid types. Most of the gameplay is open, but boss fights were a little more claustrophobic in an arena style.

It wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't for the fact that the game emphasizes choice in every other part of the game.

I went ahead and went for it since it was cheap. For some reason both this game and the normal version of the game can't go over 59hz any more. I can choose 23 or 59.
I did some hunting around and tried to fix it in the registry, but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone happen to know a fix?

Did anybody have issues getting the game to start? Nothing would happen with mine and in the folder there was a crash log for every time I tried to start it. It sorta looked like the download didn't fully unpack or something so I'm re-downloading it. Just curious.

I already beat the game on the hardest difficulty without killing anyone or setting off any alarms. Wonder if I can (or should) do it again lol.

I have the original game + The Missing Links but haven't played it yet.

Is it worth to upgrade to the director's cut for 5$ and then give it a go??

This game was probably the next one I would clear in my backlog ;)

I prefer the Director's Cut. The game is still great to play. The graphics are slightly improved, but don't expect a huge difference. They mostly just cleaned some things up and made it look more natural.

The Director's Cut seems to have better encoded pre-rendered cutscenes. It also has the gameplay tweaks mentioned and it looks like the Missing Link is now apart of the main game, which is good so there is no disconnect with DLC.

Not sure of the hows and whys, but the in-game vsync gives me awful performance. Disabling it and using the Nvidia control panel seems to fix it, though.

$5 is a no brainer for fans of the game that had already purchased it IMHO. Best $5 I've spent in quite a while. I've bought more expensive DLC that offered way less.

I wonder if the tricked out 10mm pistol is the the most uber powerful weapon in the game? That was one of my few quibbles. There was no point in using any other gun except that after a point.

It's really been like this in every single DX game. Pistol, melee and grenades just more functional then the other weapons. Although the sniper rifle in DX1 had the feature of being able to take out cameras and turrets.

I also can't recall the shotgun being useful in any of the games. Maybe if you play a low difficulty and have terrible aim?

I never bother with it. I don't care much for the machine pistol, either. For me it's 10mm and silent sniper mostly.

Crazy. I used the shotgun in each playthrough.. Such a fun weapon. Pop around a corner and they're fucked. I usually do some sneak and gum blazing hybrid though.

This wouldnt be the first game it happens. Dunno why but in some games the built in V-Sync is a performance hog or has other issues. I think Dead Space was one if my memory serves. But nowadays I have Adaptive V-Sync globally on so it doesnt affect me.

75% on Steam for owners of original and Missing Link is amazing. Too bad I live in Europe and the game is available on Friday. God damnit stop this bullshit! there is no reason why we in Europe should wait!

I meant more in terms of a practical perspective.

I like to mess around with the AR because of the style factor of smart tracking and blind firing just for fun but practically speaking it's kinda pointless :p

That's always been a game play feature though of DX game, do what you want with many options available.

One thing that always bugged me about this game was going into cover and out of cover. I was hoping they would change that, because doing it is so abrupt. It needs some kind of animation during the transition. Oh well.

Uh.. there is one. Not sure what you mean.. Jensen moves into and out of cover, you can see him do it. That's an animation. I don't know what else you could want? He doesnt just teleport to cover, he moves into it, (crouches and leans against a wall for example)

I am mostly talking about when you get out of cover.

I bet they are afraid that Europeans will buy cheap Russian copies and trade them to the rest of us. I believe the Russian store is significantly cheaper than the American store.

So it's kinda weird that now I have DX:HR, Missing Link, and now DX:HR Director's Cut as three separate entries in my Steam library. So do you need to install Missing Link seperately to get that, or is it already included in Director's Cut?

Great game, but this does feel like a cash grab. :(

I slightly agree, but I think I only paid like $10 or less for DX:HR in the first place, and even less for the DLC, so I don't mind throwing another $5 their way to (hopefully) keep the franchise going. One of the best games I've played in recent memory.

Everything's there. I don't see any reasons to keep DX:HR and Missing Link originals installed once you've gotten under way with Director's Cut. Saves don't carry over so it doesn't matter.
