Office 2003 won't type over highlighted text

I have Office 2003 installed on one of my machines. In Word for some odd reason when I highlight a word(s) using the mouse or shift + home and retype something the new words end up in front of the highlighted text. I want it instead to replace the highlighted text.

What option or setting am I overlooking? This is not the same as hitting the insert key.
 
I found it.
I just spent forever looking at all the options.
Question now is...how did I end up with this option selected. :rolleyes:

Wait...its a Microsoft product.... :p
 
That option is always selected by default when I install Office 2003. You (or someone) must have accidentally changed it somehow.

I knew its on by default, hence how I knew how its supposed to act. I also would have known how to change it back if I had in fact changed it in the first place.

Says who? It is after all a Microsoft product.

I'm guessing it happened when I opened a file saved from another computer with an older version. I know that was changed other settings before in the program.
