Korean marketing claims make the Chinese seem honest in comparison.

Ok maybe not, my LGs aren't claiming anything crazy. Maybe it's just Samsung.
 
No visible FALD GRID like Neo G9?

I've spoken to a few others with the delivery that arrived today they say they don't see it all. But like you guys said, some people have bad vision or lying.
 
Has anyone actually gotten one of these without the scanlines issue? I received mine today but am afraid to unbox it. If all/most of them have the scanlines then I'll just return it.

The motion clarity is crazy good. I can read smooth scrolling text clearer than the AW34 OLED. Of course the G8 is running 65 higher Hz.

You can still return it after its open...may as well test it out and see if it has nice tits.
 
Ok I think that I've got some screen on-time with the electronics the scan-lines have definitely decreased in intensity. I'm thinking the new chips needed to heat cycle a few times possibly.

If you play a game like PUBG where there are small distant details/enemies to see, at 32" 4K 240 Hz this is basically god mode for a game like that.

LOL. I probably don't even want to bother with it if pretty much every panel has it, like the Neo G9, I know I'll return it. Already have a PG32... so this wasn't necessary.

I have a pg32 as well but its a blur monster compared to the G8. G8 will probably end up taking the aw34 spot next to it
 
Very odd behavior. Same BF2042 game. Started the game with the blue bar at the top having clear scan lines. The red doesn't have any (it's quite color dependent). But then after the monitor has been operating for about 14 minutes later in HDR, the same blue score bar, the scan lines are all but gone (second pic).

I've also noticed a VOC “new electronics” smell that is very noticeable and irritating my eyes coming from the monitor. Some glue, protective coatings, or plasticizers are getting warmed up/burnt off. Maybe that has something to do with the scan lines, but they are much less noticeable now. I will check in the morning if they come back in full force (cold monitor).

So far quite enjoying the display once it's dialed in. Out of the box settings were atrocious.

Another tip: in monitor settings "System", turn off a setting called "VRR control". That makes VRR stutter in games for whatever reason. I'll have to look up whatever that is supposed to do.

I received an AW34 as well this week... So you are saying the Neo G8 is better than the AW34 or better than the PG32?
 
How does the HDR on the G8 compare to the AW34? Does the image pop more noticeably on the G8 compared to the AW34? Really curious which one wins out, greater peak brightness or the infinite contrast.

It doesn’t seem like the G8 is going to be much brighter in real world use… like the Neo G9 it seems to peak at around ~1000 nits, which is the same as the AW34, and like you mentioned the AW has better contrast.
 
Looks like the scan-lines are more apparent this morning. So likely a heat/warm up element to the issue. I will keep the monitor on for an hour before work and check back with any changes.
 
Was suppose to receive package yesterday, UPS information bumped till saturday delivery....however, tracking information has not updated since tuesday...still shows at warehouse in IL.

Man, I sympathize with you l88bastard but if I were that csr and you talked to me like that, I'd be lmao and not help you :p. A bottom rung csr is clearly not informed.

Eh, the csr is not unusual for a bottom rung guy. As I said. I have had packages not update even though they really are in UPS hands, and just magically show up on the est delivery date. I would just wait until tomorrow and complain if it doesn't show then. EDIT: Also I would rely on a phone call, not a live chat.
 
Fuck this...once this POS does NOT get here tomorrow....Im processing refund....FUCK THIS.....Samsung just made Dells horrific CSRs look like rock stars.
 
Yeah I like that I got a much cheaper price from Samsung, but I could easily get it way faster right now from Bestbuy, Amazon, and probably Microcenter this monday. Still a mid July ship date from Sammy.

I've always had good experiences with Dell cs. Over the phone, though. I've found live chat to be worthless with most companies, except for Newegg interestingly enough.

That’s awesome for those of you who managed to nab the Samsung deal. For those of us who never ordered from them and might order now, well we still pay $1450 for it.

Yeah if you can't get crazy Samsung.com deals, it's probably better to order from somewhere more reliable and closer like Amazon, Bestbuy, etc.

Vega what settings would you recommend? I'm receiving the monitor today. Also should I switch to Alderlake? I'm running a 5800x3d with a 3090 and games like Halo top off at 138fps and dips into the 100fps at 4k. Also COD Moden Warfare 2019 at 4k max fps 190 to 150.
