Just so you know I am on W7 64.

For some reason if I go into a folder in my documents and tell it to view large icons when I go back all the folders are large icons. Normally I want everything to be a list but in a folder that has pics I prefer it to be large icons. Is there a way to make it so I can view the pictures as large icons but keep everything else as a list? If I go to like my music folder and view large icons it doesn't change my my documents folder.

Folder Options -> View tab -> "Remember each folder's view settings"

maybe that's un-checked?
Placement could be wrong, as that's where it exists in XP, but I think it's in a similar place.

If you change the type of folder it is (under folder - properties, select Photos instead of General Items, for instance) I believe it will hold different settings for the different types. Can't check now, but that's the behavior I remember.

It seems like you're changing the Library view, which subsequently changes all subfolders' views too. If you don't access Documents via Library, you can set custom views for each folder.
