Odd issues when TV is plugged in and turned off.

My current setup (in sig) with the RTX4090 I have triple monitors, 3 LG ‎27GR83Q-B.AUS and recently plugged in a 55" hisense u8k to sometimes game on or watch movies, but since I plugged in the TV, every time the TV turns off I lose 2 of the 3 monitors until I either turn the TV back on or unplug it. What happens is the two (left and middle) screen turn on but show a black screen, and my right screen would show all my windows/programs opened. If I turn on the TV or unplug it, everything goes back to normal including the windows that were open on the other monitors.

When I look in the nvidia control panel with the tv off, only one monitor shows up, but device manger in Windows 11, it shows all 3 + the tv.

Nvidia driver versions don't matter, it does it on all of them that I tried including the latest one.
HDMI cable does not matter.
I don't see a setting on the NV control panel that could prevent this.
The TV is set for 144hz with 'freesync' enabled on the tv itself. Setting that off would limit it to 120hz, but still the same issue.
Tired another TV (toshiba 43" fire tv), same issue.
Tried a monitor, no issue.

Is there something stupid I'm missing that's causing this or even a TV setting?

Probably a bug in the driver. The size of the buffer(s) required for 8k is humongous, wouldn't surprise me if some edge cases they didn't account for are being hit.

Edit: oh, missed that you tried another TV. Still wouldn't be surprised if it was a driver bug though.

Microsoft rep recommends replacing your TV if you encounter this issue. Someone else mentioned disabling "Input Signals Plus" resolved the issue, but that disables HDR if you care about that.

I'm gonna try my living room LG C2 oled since these seem to be more commonly used for monitors. If I get the same issue I'm going to assume it's a nvidia driver thing and not a cheap tv's thing.

If it works, well I guess I'm getting a C4 as a upgrade.

Nope. Same thing. I tried something a little different. Plugged TV in, leave it on for a minute then turn it off. nothing happened after a little bit.

So I let my monitors go to sleep (after 10 minutes of inactivity), waited a minute and when I wake them up, back to single monitor (Note: only the monitors go to sleep, my pc never shuts off). This was with a different HDMI cable as well since the other one was too short.

At this point, it's not a TV thing, 3 tv's 3 different brands and same results. It's either a windows or nvidia thing and knowing that device manager shows all devices plugged in and nvidia control panel does not, I can only assume NV is at fault.

I've seen some strange issues with my 4090 too. I have two 4K monitors and an LG OLED plugged in. Sometimes one of the monitors just isn't detected (also after waking) and I have to power cycle the monitor. Every once in a while, it even disconnects while in use. This can happen when the TV auto-turns off, seems to confuse the display drivers.

PC fan service (Aquasuite) sometime crashes after waking too. I was able to add some auto restarts to the service, so it usually resolves after 30 seconds or so. I'm using Display Fusion to set keyboard shortcuts for various monitor configs (have one for just the two monitors, one for just the TV, one for all three) and it could also be a factor.

What happens if you hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press P? Can you change how the image is extended or duplicated, and does it change anything? Might try uninstalling Display Fusion after backing up your configs.

Win+P works as expected, just doesn't allow for the flexibility that Display Fusion does. I have tried uninstalling Display Fusion in the past to see if it was the source of the issues, but it didn't help.

Possibly also related, Windows Explorer sometimes has issues with window sizing after waking. Windows will obscure the task bar when maximized, or there will be a gap the same size as the task bar above the task bar. Restarting the Windows Explorer process always resolves it. This is something I run into on my work laptop as well, so my suspicion has been that Windows is just a bit buggy handling multiple displays.

Check your windows Power settings. Disable the sleep mode for monitors.
Control Panel - Power Options - Change Advanced Power Settings - Display - Plugged In set to Never.

Might simply be a bug in Windows, I have heard of others having issues with multiple screens when the displays are a mix of Displays (meant for computer use) and TVs.
