nah, it's still a fake. Romania is such a hotbed for mobile development... and it's not curved. A very wellmade fake.

Yeah, no curve. And if it was real, they would have certainly showed off the side and back views of the phone.

Well... putting any phone in your back pocket then sitting on it is pretty retarded, so you might just want to stay away from phones all together.

Yup.... seriously, who sits on a phone.... *any* phone?

What kind or moron puts a $600 smartphone in their back pocket?

The kind that whine about top tier super phones with slightly curved screens.
Wow, so good to know there are at least 3 smart guys out there who have never, ever accidentally sat on any phones in the car, the couch or anywhere else. Guess you've never crushed a pair of sunglasses that way, either, huh?

Envy these men, members of [H]. For they are the stuff of legend!

I sure s hell haven't, I'm a fucking boss!

No, seriously, a little curve is ergonomic. As much curve as that trailer implies is not only ugly, IMO, it's uselessly overcurved. Unless if i was trying to run a mobilefinger skate park or something...

Fine. I nominate YOU to buy a Prime, slip it in your back pocket (curved side facing out) and then sit down on a wood, metal or hard plastic chair. Let us know if the phone survives intact.

I'm sorry, can you not read? He said the screen would crack if he had it in his front pocket, curve in, and bumped something. I merely stated the phone would press into your leg rather that stress the curve and crack the screen.

If you put the phone in your back pocket you are asking for trouble and I have no pity for your retardation.

I feel special too since I've never had that issue either!

If you sit on something on a couch or cushioned chair, you really think the phone is going to give before the cushion? Same thing with your leg.

As I said before, this isn't a new concept, the Nexus S has the same design and there were no outstanding issues with it. I really don't see the problem.

Sucks they delayed Unpacked Event. I really hope they just delay it further into next week, not long after its original scheduled day. I'm guessing it's due to Steve's Funeral from what I'm reading elsewhere. If so, then that's totally understandable and considerate on Samsungs part. As long as this doesn't delay the phones actual launch, I'm cool with it .

Sorry but there is no relevance to crushing a pair of glasses and putting a phone in your back pocket. I've always used my front pocket or used a phone clip on the front belt area. Putting it in the back pocket is knowingly asking for trouble.

GALAXY and NEXUS has been merged into only one phone, samsung announced the GALAXY NEXUS

Gotta respect Google for doing this. Even though Steve Jobs and Apple were their direct competition, it is good to see everyone take a breath, and respect the loss of such a powerful tech leader.

No big loss to see the reveal delayed, it's not like the launch date was pushed back or anything, still on track for a Nov. 3rd release as far as I know, and now the Oct. 27th event will make it better, because not much of a wait to get the phone after we officially see it :)

I wouldn't go that far. I'm willing to bet two things happened here. 1) They ruthlessly slammed Jobs and Apple in their presentation and had to redo it and 2) The media will be all over his funeral and not give a damn about their phone. Tuesday would have been a P.R. nightmare for them....I'm sure Apple and the Jobs family knew that while scheduling too.

Well we were right, Steve's death is their reason for delaying it.

A Samsung spokesperson issued a follow up statement to CNET, confirming speculation that the reveal was postponed out of respect, following the passing of Steve Jobs. "We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs's passing," the spokesperson explained.

That's a pretty classy move.

Still very much excited to pick this phone up on day one.

Its not about putting the phone in the pocket. You can easily leave it upside down on your desk, it could be covered, and book etc could fall on it. Its not going to break, but the curved design puts extra pressure.

You said it youself, its not going to break. The Nexus S has the same curved designs and none of the phantom problems that people here are complaining about.

Sounds like a design flaw of the desk, not the phone

Apparently... nobody went to architecture 101 and read about arches...

Lacking an abutment the phones curve has none of the strength of an arch to resist bending. Engineering 101.

Just saying.

The number of times in my life that I have put something even remotely valuable, or breakable in my back pocket is exactly zero.

Same, the only thing that goes in my back pocket is my wallet or papers, nothing else. Even my keys don't go there because I don't like sharp objects jabbing my ass.

I've been carrying cell phones in my back pocket for ages now and have never once broken one by sitting on it. Apparently you guys have asses as hard as rocks but all of mine have been fine.

An no, I've never sat on anything valuable. That's a stupid thing to do and I'm not stupid. I like to be aware of what I'm sitting on, where my next step will be, where my car is headed, etc. Some call that "stuff of legend", I call it normal motor skills and common sense.

If anything, phones were designed to follow the faces curvature until the advent of candybars and then adopted by smartphones (even before the iPhone). This is in a way returning to an more ergonomic design.

In any case, the Nexus Prime is rumoured to be metal unibody with gorilla glass. If that's the case, it's not going to break easy.

The first live-action photo of the upcoming Google Nexus Prime has been leaked in Romania. A technology website called Mobilissimo has received a picture of the Samsung Nexus Prime in its inbox from an anonymous tipster and by the looks of it, we have to say that it looks like the real deal. The picture is accompanied by a short video of the smartphone in action where we’ve noticed a couple of things.

My Galaxy S2 will definitely suffer from sitting on it for long periods of time. Gorilla glass can bend, but pixels can only withstand so much pressure. That's alot of surface area on the GS2 and my 200lb 6ft self will tear that shit up, especially when leaning or putting extended pressure on one half of the phone and bending it.

Take the phone out of your pocket when ever you are going to sit down. Problem solved.
