I'm wondering how much further I can push this CPU. I'm pretty stoked right now, I'm running it at 9x278 = ~2.5 gHz at 1.39 V, with my Corsair TwinX PC3200 C2 memory on the 5/6 divider (~227 mHz), timings 3-4-4-8, @ 2.9 V. Temps are high 30's idle, 43-46 load.

How much more OC can I expect? Am I close to the limit of this memory? I'm contemplating buying some DDR 500 or 600 memory to maybe use the 1:1 mem divider, but will I really notice that much of a performance difference?

BTW, what a sweet CPU. Can't complain about a 700 mHz OC. :)

you can proly get more of an OC on that if you rais the voltage. id say nothing above .6v on good air cooling.... also you dont need to get pc400 you could just get a some goot OCing ram like some BH-5 or TCCD..... bh-5 has done 270Mhx 1.5,2,2,6 rare thought id say 250-270 @2,2,2,5 at like 3.5v on the ram. the TCCD will be more expersive. but back to the CPU you should be able to get to 2.6-2.7 on air......

Drop the Ram divider even lower and keep pushing. You can likely get 2.7GHz easy.

Regarding the RAM dividers, with this particular mobo, I've heard there are problems w/ the 133 divider. I'll try it, though. 300 FSB should be OK with this board, so I'll try it out.

It's amazing the difference in running games between this CPU and the 2.2 gHz Barton I was using. Half Life 2 run so much smoother.. :)

It depends on the chip. My week 17 3000+ is oh so close to 2.8 , but my week 19 3000+ is hitting a wall at 2.5 right now. Good luck, and be sure to post your results in the rev e database.
