NZXT Phantom case: lotsa airflow and perks.

I think this case is gorgeous o.o haha.. Love it! nzxt really scored big with this case. Love the interior as well!

Hey everyone of you that own white Phantoms. I'm incredibly envious. I can't find one anywhere online. Newegg's ETA is now 10/4 on them. Tiger says 7-21 days. Amazon is just "pre-order".

NZXT told me they're having a new shipment in this week (mid September). Check www.nzxt.com if anything as well, Call them if anything!

This sucks I got my ECO 240m and waiting to get the case before I start ordering parts for my new surround gaming rig. No point of ordering technology parts if I dont have a case yet. Maybe when I do finally see my case, the new Nvidia 475's are out LoL.

I have lost even more faith in humanity.

*shrug* your loss then because companies like mnpctech are making $$ off the enthusiasm of people who dig the bling and it's EXACTLY the same thing I watched happen back in the 80s/90s with the evolution of car stereos and tricking out cars with bling.

Some people are very set on a particular aesthetic, and anything outside of that just doesn't sit well with them. But when you dig past the facade of stuff like automotive body parts, clothing design or a computer chassis, an appreciation for the art/engineering/creativity evolves. Doesn't mean someone has to like a design in it's entirety, but IMO NZXT has done a lot of things quite well with the Phantom much like they did with the Tempest, Lian Li did with the pc-k62, or Silverstone with the ft02. There are just a lot of great cases being made the last 4-5 years and the fierce competition is benefiting the consumer.

All that said, I didn't spend my money on any of those excellent cases; I just really dig case mods and chassis design in general. I'm quite happy with my beastly black monolith aka the Lian Li pc-x2000f, but feel free to pop off with calling it overpriced, bland or whatever else. "Oh the humanity" lol.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I wrote the initial PCPer article and you can mount a triple radiator to the top of the case (see pic below). I initially didn't think it could support many custom watercooling solutions, but did more research and they include a couple brackets to install the radiator. Overall its a pretty spacious case and pretty attractive. Sorry for the quick review as well. They shipped it to me two days before they wanted the review posted so I couldn't do a more thorough review of the case.

I can't figure out how a radiator fits there without hitting the board. I have one of these Phantoms that i'm currently building with. I tried fitting a rad up there but the fan that's included hangs down and sticks out the frame a little. Plus the rad bumps into my mobo (msi p55-gd80) heat pipe. I also noticed that the wholes on mine that the little adapters bolt to for the rad aren't wide enough. There measured for like a 160 rad and not a 240. Other then that. I love the case. Super quiet and clean. If anyone has any idea on how I can work that out. Let me know. I already figure I'm gonna have to make new wholes to move the bracket on the inside further to the side to widen it.

Where did you see them at? I have a bunch of white led's I was actually thinking of doing something like that. lol. Just my luck. I get everything to make something and just before I do. Someone makes them. Karma.

That's a great idea for those that like lights. I'd get those in white if I had a window!

I'm thinking of leaving the 200mm fan off the side panel to use the mesh as a window while keeping most of the light inside. I was thinking of making something like that with white led's. I'm gonna look into this. I may just get them.

PLEASE dont say a 240 mm radiator wont fit. I bought an ECo C240 purposely to put up there. My case has yet to ship from Amazon and have been waiting now for 3 weeks. This is the CPU cooler I got;

A 240mm rad should fit assuming there is no motherboard interference. popswala, can you get a pic or two of your issue?

I just took some measurements on the width of the rad bracket : 85.38mm
And for the clearance I have from the rad bracket to the heatpipe on my mobo is: 24.38.

I was thinking of getting the black ice pro II since that seems to be there skinniest one at 25mm thick and overall thickness at 28mm but thats cutting it really close. Only option I have is either removing the two fans up top and mounting it directly to top without bracket or removing heatpipe and putting low profile cooler there or wc blocks.

Is there a rad thats skinny enough that may work for me? I've been looking everything and the pro II seems to be the closest I can find.

Guys I finally posted picutres of the Eco 240 in the Oc forums if you all want to see. When will my Phantom case ship from Amazon. :(

That rad is still to thick to fit in mine with my board. I may get stuck having to mount the rad on the back outside. I'd like to keep everything inside so there no chance of bumping or having tubes and stuff all over on outside. Some ppl get carried away with all that. Not my taste. Or I could just mount a singe 120 on back inside and another (remove hdd cage) next to hdd.

I called NZXT today, they believe it wont be till early October for my Phantom case to ship :(

I guess they ran into some delays? I wonder what happened. Tho I notice NZXT has been doing some HEAVY marketing in magazines etc. I see the phantom case everywhere!

Hey, I'm curious about the space in the top cover. Is there enough space to put a fan on top of the case with the top cover over it?

Also, would a 240mm radiator fit on top with the top cover on? That way the 200mm fan could still blow air up through the rad. The radiator I have has Dimensions: 121x35x277mm (WxDxH), So I was curious if there's enough space up top under the cover. It looks likes it's more than 35mm high... right?

Any way you Phantom owners could give us a measurement of the space available under the top cover?

I need to know as I'm planning on installing this XSPC Water Cooling System into a new case - either the Phantom or the CM HAF 932 or X.

Thanks, SS

No there's not. Theres already two big holes just for the 200's that go under the top. Trust me. I tried moving the fans on top so I can fit a rad up there cause of my mobo. You can't unless you leave the top off. The top is at an angle so its taller on one side while low on other. You can't do anything really. Only thing I can think of is putting a thin sheet of metal/aluminum there. Mounting it to the orignal holes for the 200 fan and having a smaller hole in enter for a smaller fan to shrink original hole. You may get away with thin 80mm or 120mm fans going that route. The 200mm fans you can buy to match the rest of case move a heck of lot more air then the one that's included. Odd I know.

I'm wanting to watercool in my phantom and still working on how to figure it out. I may get stuck mounting rad behind case.

I FINALLY MANAGE to order one. New Egg just got some in stock today. I placed and order and told them amazon has free shipping, and they said they will refund the shipping charge once my items ships! I will let you know once the item ships.

^^ sweet. What color you getting? I have the black one. Kinda wish I got the white. That one looks sweet.

I got the white one and just got the item has shipped email! So maybe by mid next week I should receive it!! Im so glad Im so close of having my surround rig done. Just waiting on a HOT deal on some 480's.

480's are sweet. I haven't decided on gpu's for mine. I'm still modding led's into my fans on top. All I got is the mobo and some watercool pieces. I haven't fully decided which route I'm going but I do have an idea. I like those led cables they have coming. Gonna pick some up when their out. It's funny, I got a bunch of leds one day and they next day they announce those led cables. I was planning to make something like that. Guess I'll use them for something else.

Enjoy the white phantom. NZXT sure has been doing pretty good lately with cases.

My case comes in Wednesday, I will take lost of pictures and post them. I got just about everything, only things left are the video cards and the 2 Samsung F3 to raid 0 them. Im not sure to wait 2 more weeks for the release of the new ATi cards to bring down the prices of the 480's. Right now Im gaming on my M11x. Believe it or now, being having a blast with Champions online. Bought it when it was on sale, for 6 bucks and ill see if I decide to renew once my time runs out.

The 200mm fans you can buy to match the rest of case move a heck of lot more air then the one that's included. Odd I know.

Oddly enough I think it is because the one that is included has LED's with it as well, which is pulling power that otherwise would be used for the fan itself. I tossed the one that came included and added two of the regular 200mm fans and they both move a shit ton of air.

If that was the case (if true), then what happen if you turn the led switch off, in the back?

Nothing speed-wise. The 200mm fans you can buy do push more air, but they're also MUCH louder. By far the loudest thing in the computer when I had it hooked up.

They do get a tad loud but at mid speed. They seem fine enough for me. Now that's getting colder out I don't need the fans at full speed no ways. Do led's draw that much power? I bought 2 200's to match and modded white led's into them on the bottom wholes so the lites more on inside of case and there wired to a switch surprisingly fits the water tube port on back of case. I think it turned out sweet.

They don't draw much power at all, that was just a hypothesis of mine. Do you think NZXT uses a different motor in the 200mm that comes with the case vs the ones you can buy outright? That would not make much sense to me. I have another theory. They're using a resistor on the lead that goes to the motor, purposefully limiting the current to the motor so that if you turned up the RPM with the fan controller the LEDs don't dim.
