If NYC threw all those poor people out and they started wandering the countryside, you'd be changing your tune.
Well if NY didn't offer such cadillac level welfare programs maybe NYS wouldn't be such a welfare state so there wouldn't be as many to "wander the countryside."
In the last 80's and early 90's I worked in an ER and was stunned to find out that people could, and did, apply for NYS welfare and medicaid before ever stepping foot in the state and in fact we actually had people come directly from the airport and/or bus terminal when they first got to NY and they already have their Medicaid card.
I don't know about today, but back then if someone got out of the military they couldn't apply for unemployment in NYS for 30 days, under the idea that they haven't been in the state to see if they can find work, but the same leftist idiots that decided on that wanted to make sure people could be approved for welfare before even entering NY for the first time. What a crock!
