Edit: Looks like their clearance sale is only at their jersey city and springfield NJ stores. Sorry about that pretty big oversight

Those of you lucky enough to live near a 6th ave store can check out some of these clearance prices.

- Onkyo TSXR-705B 7.1 receiver $246 <--- !!!

- Denon AVR2807 7.1 receiver $296 (insane)

- Pioneer Elite VSX-80TXV 7.1 receiver $198 (more insanity)

- Kef iQ3 bookshelf speakers $196 a pair (lowest online price is $280 shipped)

- Paradigm PDR1002dbV3 10" 360w subwoofer $149

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm over in CA. -_- No clearance deals for me?

They do bait and switch.
All stores have been accused of that, many with credible evidence. A random posting in this forum shouldn't stop interested buyers from trying to get there early (before they open preferably). Heck you might be able to purchase the product the day before and have them pricematch it the next day (i'd inquire about their price-protection policies first before trying though).

Just know what you're getting into with these guys. Reseller rating
Thanks for the link, compared to other large electronics stores that 7.59/8.2 resellerating makes 6th ave look like Newegg in comparison. Some of those gripes posted are shipping&handling related by the way.

And like i said before, anyone interested should just get there early wednesday morning, before they open. Or inquire about their price-protection policies and if favorable just purchase the item the day before, then return wednesday for the pricematch.

I am local to the chain in question and well familiar with their antics. By all means, proceed at your own risk and for your sake, I hope it works out for you.

If you are looking for a reasonable price, they are not all that bad.

The cost of those Def Tech Mythos Ones are insane. They normally go for around $700 each... if only I lived next to one of these 6th Ave stores...

I have a 6th Ave near me and have dealt with them on a few occasions. IMO they are shady, but then again they are one of the only retail places where they "Allow" haggleing. On 2 occasions, they didnt have the product that I was after in stock, and instead of letting me leave they worked with me. I told the sales guy to simply give me the next higher model up from the one that I wanted at the same price and Id buy. Two minutes later I was paying for the better one and out the door.

If you know what youre looking for, and are informed they arent that bad of a place to deal with. But if you walk in like a deer in headlights the salespeople will have a field day with you (If you allow them).

Just so locals know, according to the bottom of the circular, these clearance deals only apply to the Jersey City and Springfield Stores.

I'm in Jersey and the closest one to me is about 100 mi away. I guess I'll pass.

Son of a gun, thanks for catching that. Edited the original post but it's too late for me to edit the title.

i live in nyc, i have gone there 4 or 5 times to buy things i saw in the sunday circular. not one time did they have it in stock. i just split, so i cant comment on whether they would cut a deal on something else. there is a "tradition" of these places in nyc, ie "crazy eddies", "the wiz", etc, etc. its like there are a group of people that believe this is the normal way to do business. feel sorry for unaware consumers going there for stuff like washing machine, fridge, whatever that need something right away.

Ooo, perfect. My parents need new cheapish TV to replace the lightning-damaged CRT in their bedroom. The Springfield store is the only one we've ever been to since it's fairly close.

bait and switch!!!

or what they will do is when you purchase a DSLR or High-def camcorder they will sell it to you for a very low price and then when they are ready to ship it out they will call you and tell you you need to buy the $100 battery for it.

are you guys able to make the purchase online? i know it says b&m, but since it gives you the option to add to cart, i figured it was available to ship?

The option's there but the pioneer elite receiver won't add to my cart, i suspect the prices aren't available online but it's worth a shot.

yes, they will sometimes remove and repackage the accessories to sell to you. more often they will advertise something at an incredible price. but when you get there, it will be sold out, but they just happen to have another model just as good, etc, etc. and the other model is usually about 5 years out of date, company out of business, box has been openned "no, no - they openned it when it went thru customs" and usually made in khazakistan. and will have a brandname like "somy" or "parasonic", "deron", "NFC", etc.
