Been using GFE for a while now. I don't mind it or the login nonsense. Let's see how it plays first before complaining? Maybe.

I mean, I was responding to people complaining about the software itself. I totally agree with you RE: videos vs writeups. I HATE video reviews or tutorials unless it's something that truly benefits from a video.

IMO, it's a fine idea that doesn't execute well. The idea of "optimizing" for the casual audience is a good one.
The trick is, the software doesn't know what you actually prefer or what you consider optimal. On my system it almost always tries to push 4K resolution with details turned down and framerates in the 30's and 40's...rather than 1080p/60/maxed, which I prefer. Either that or some odd mix of upscaling and details that usually falls flat and leaves me with flaky framerates that bounce up and down.
There should be some easy parameters you could plug in and let it optimize based on that.
It'll never be of much value to power users, but for someone who is a casual users but serious gamer software like this could definitely be useful.

I don't use it simply because I do not use the features that it offers. I just install the driver with the functionality that I need, tweak my own settings, and play. I do not care about recording. I do not use auto-update for anything. I like to know when a new update is out for any of my products, but I will choose if I want/need or when I install them. I like playing with the settings of games and getting them set to MY liking.

I guess I am in the minority. I used to love doing all the research on what settings to change for what game to tweak my FPS exactly right but as I've gotten older and the amount of time I have to spend at work has increased, the time I have for gaming has decreased. I was super opposed to geforce experience when it came out figuring, "What kind of noob needs a slider to set their graphics options? Set it manually like a real man!". Now I find myself immediately going to geforce and just popping whatever settings they suggest. I know, I should feel ashamed but really I'm just happy to spend more time gaming and less time screwing with graphics options.

Also, I never used shadowplay or any of that crap so maybe that's why I'm not upset at all.

Finally, not sure if you guys know it or not but it's worth having a geforce login because sometimes you get into beta's that are tough to get keys for or get entered into giveaways so really there's no downside.

You guys know that the optimization actually gives you a slider and a screen resolution, right?
When you click on each notch on the slider it shows which settings are changed. You can access this via the little wrench icon next to the OPTIMISE button.

GE App gives you a "guest123456" login at start. GFE should do the same instead.

I've had sound getting out of sync and lower quality recording footage with OBS than I have with Shadowplay. I don't care about the streaming, just recording the footage. Recording through the GPU makes a substantial difference in speed at higher resolution as opposed to CPU recording through something like fraps.

It doesn't matter though, I literally can't run Shadowplay on the new version. You say I'm "free not to use it." Well I was already using the damn program satisfactorily and it worked and now it's changed the terms so that I can't. I would be happy to stay on the old version, but I can't figure out which applications to firewall AND have it still work since it's using like 3-4 executables. That's like saying "you're free not to use your computer" once you get hit by malware. You're also free not to use your car if somebody pours sugar in your gas tank.

Probably because of Twitch. Their servers will throttle your stream if you try to go higher than 3000 unless you have a bajillion followers and are partnered.
What trandoanhung1991 above said. You can change the resolution in the options for each games and it will give you new recommended settings based on that. You can also use the slider to change how much detail you want.

I reposted it because of Nvidias published intent to no longer offer game ready drivers as individual downloads. If you want the latest drivers, you'll need to have the Geforce Experience installed, and install them through the Geforce Experience. They will no longer be individually downloadable.

To be fair we don't know if that stance has changed since then. The article from October last year says they wanted to start enforcing this in January this year. I'm sure we'll find out in the near future.

    "Official" explanation:

Why are you requiring an account to access GeForce Experience?
A: An NVIDIA account is needed to deliver rewards and giveaways, GameStream pairing, Share features, and more.

    Likely explanation:
For those who don't know, you can bypass the installation of the new version. When you open up GFE and the update window pops up, just use the system tray icon to open GFE again. GFE should open like normal, then you can cancel out of the upgrade window.

Who the hell works at Nvidia and is this disconnected from the gaming community to think this is a good idea? At least they will still offer their drivers as standalone for those who don't want this. I seem to remember a while ago rumors had it that you would have to have this if you wanted access to the newest drivers.

I had the exact same issue.
Was fairly certain I already had an account, tried all my normal password to no avail, didnt work.
Requested a password recovery, never received email.
Registered new account, received confirmation email, confirmed account, tried to login with my new shiny [confirmed!] account, still doesnt work.
Submitted request to update account password, never received email.

I refuse to link my other accounts to third party services and wont test this out till I can use my account.

Q: My forum accounts doesn't work? why not?
A: GeForce Experience uses new NVIDIA, Google, or Facebook accounts to log in. If you are using your forum account, it is currently not compatible to log into GeForce Experience, but we are working on migrating your forum accounts into NVIDIA accounts. Stay tuned.

GFE is 10x better than Raptr but still sucks. Just used Google account to log in, did not send verification email until I hit resend which then I received the verification email. I just don't see much in GFE to be useful and looks to be more or less Bloatware.

I upgraded to it last night. Seems fine to me. I registered with my Google account. I like GFE for the ease of driver updates lol

Oh, it's not a space issue. Plenty of drive space here. It's a personal preference issue. It's like going to a sandwich shop and all you are allowed to order is a fully loaded sandwich with a bunch of ingredients you don't particularly want, need or care for and end up throwing away.

I'm fine with them issuing the driver as is for those that want it that way, but why not provide an option to select and D/L what you actually want/need rather than all the extra bloatware crap? You're saying that having a choice is bad? You must like Apple products. :D

    Oh, and post # 1000!

Don't you have that option if you don't choose Express Installation? It's been a while since I tried and I don't feel like uninstalling my drivers to test but I thought you can unselect some of the components.

Actually, I think some folks complain just to BE complaining.

I'm guessing that was supposed to coincide with the new GeForce Experience release, and the new GeForce Experience was just delayed.

If they do go down this route, someone is guaranteed to zip up the drivers and offer them in a standalone package. The problem is if you can trust them, or if you'll wind up with key loggers (or worse) on your system.

This is what happens when competition suffers.

    At the Nvidia meeting:

Manager: We need them to have user accounts so we can collect and monetize data, so we will require that in our new version of GeForce experience.
Engineer: But then no one will want to use it.
Manager: Easy, just stop offering regular driver updates on the web site once the new version hits.
Engineer: Oh that is evil. You are going to drive away our customers!
Manager: Microsoft got away with somethign similar with their Windows 10 switch, besides, what are they going to do, buy AMD? Bwahahahah

This is [H]ard|OCP, a site dedicated to people who like to build and tweak their own computing/gaming experience and now nvidia is trying to throw a monkey hammer in that and people here are a little concerned. If nvidia wanted to please its customers then they would offer both types of downloads. You guys and your sliders, are you shitting me?

I've been using it for a few years. I'll let it optimize my games and then tweak it for higher quality settings to see if it causes performance issues. The optimized settings are usually spot-on but with Fallout 4 I was able to use Godrays with little to no performance hit.

GFE is kind of meant for the lazy PC gamer (or noob) that doesn't want to tinker but just wants to play their games. The mandatory sign in is stupid but we all knew it was coming.

There's a workaround to the ridiculous forced upgrade from 2.11.4.0 to 3.0.x, it's detailed in a thread on the geforce.com forums:

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/...ems-and-issues-with-geforce-experience-3-0/1/

It's a little difficult to follow... basically you uninstall 3.0.x, reinstall 2.11.4.0, and when the mandatory upgrade screen comes up:

You leave that alone and then go to the tray and launch GeForce Experience again:

There are additional suggestions on wiping out the forced upgrade via messing with the "update" folder and unchecking the auto download of updates, etc.

I tried GF Experience a few years back just because I wanted Shadowplay but did dabble with the other options. With my own settings I had Skyrim running really well but tried their "optimized" settings anyway, no, it was not optimized and my own settings were much better.

You realize that the auto-optimization stuff is totally optional right? I don't understand your post. In fact GFE is still, right now, an optional download entirely.

I don't see a problem with it if you an click the box to not install Geforce Experience.

And if you are a [H] gamer (who doesn't record) you wouldn't use it anyway as it can lower performance.

Either way not as big of a deal as some make it out to be.

Now if they made you make an account to install the drivers AND Geforce experience....well thats crossing the line.

Just adding my voice to the pile of people who have had nothing but headaches after installing GFE. Thought I might give this new one a try but it seems this more of the same, I don't get the point of it really.
