NVIDIA RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti Unclothed @ [H]

I read an article on the RTX2080 on Techradar where they quote the price of a RTX2080 card as $699 (£749, AU$1,199). Since reading that article I have had emails from UK suppliers who have RTX2080 cards listed for pre order for just over £1000 ($1287) and the Ti card is £1344 ($1730). Am I alone in thinking that that is a ridiculous amount of cash for these cards ?

That is right on for the $799 of the FE in USD + 20% VAT.

Looks like we are due to get ripped off in the UK then !!

No you're not?

£899.16 ≈ $1,153 USD (MSRP = $999 USD, FE = $1,200 USD)

£623.33 ≈ $799 USD (MSRP = $699 USD, FE = $799 USD)

I mean, unless you're complaining about VAT, which I agree is a rip. We don't include tax in retail price in the US. Sales tax is anywhere between 5% and 9% in the US depending on the state you live in. It's only 6% where I live, so I'm only paying $1,272 for the 2080 Ti.

I haven't even gotten around to moving the living room TV to 4K yet - I think the 1080Ti will be fine for me until Navi + 7nm comes out, and we (hopefully) see some real AMD competition. I'm not in a rush to supply nVidia with capital after their shady GPP BS.

Anyone remember the 8800 Ultra launch, with Unified Shaders (now used by every GPU)? Or the good old GeForce 256 (hello there hardware texture & lighting)?
Hardware TnL was made more important than it really was.
NV marketing made sure everyone needed it despite it was not that important. Bad 3dmark performance which seems to be programmed like that on purpose helped to sell this idea.

Far more important and revolutionary card was GeForce3 with its Pixel and Vertex shaders which made games really look different. RTX now is like GF3. Expensive toy in world where there is many games not using it or using it barely but at the same this it is NOW that is the most exiting time to have the card!

almost every review lowers the 4k setting from ultra to very high???
lame cards,lame reviewers.

(i did finally find a reviewer who did show 2080ti ultra setting, english dude on youtube, showed it @ 30fps ultra)
