NVIDIA Finds Lost Titan Xp Performance

But then again, I'm not the type of person that goes around and constantly worries about being spied on. I just kind of.. Live life.
Thats a fair response, in the same way that I dont like to be spied on or worse, since they can sell that data.

Yes, facebook and google do the same thing, but they at the very least, gives you something back, Nvidia and microsoft (windows 10) dont give you shit back. Worse, you paid for the card or the OS and they still pull this crap.

Lastly, the worse part is, you dont get an option to opt in and the only way to opt-out is by having the knowledge of how to remove this.

So you wouldn't mind if Nvidia sold that data to your insurance company which then raised your rates for living an "unhealthy" lifestyle of too much gaming and pr0n?

Not really.

ahhhhh that good old argument... "I have nothing to hide, blabla..."
You need to open your mind and think about how this information can be used by nV / gouv / anyone.

Basically, since this information exist, technically it can and WILL be accessible by anyone at some point... Yes maybe "maybe" nV will not use it for bad cause but as pictured above... you need to think deeper how this data can & WILL be used.

Its not that I have nothing to hide, I've got plenty to hide..... I have other things to worry about than Nvidia or whoever spying on me. I own a smart phone and access public wifi. Don't really care who can see me virtually. Nvidia isn't the only one.

You ever heard of identity thief ? You should never use public wife without a VPN.
Edited version: I suggest you read on what could happen with your data... would you give your SSN to the walmart cashier ? Would you give access to your facebook to anyone or trade your tax info for a pizza? Been careless may lead to any worst scenario.. please be more careful and in the worst case applying this: nothing will happen and you'll be happy :) best case: You dodged a second mortgage on a castle on an island lol

I don't care what Nvidia wants to collect on me. Simple as that. Privacy has long been dead. Even for those who think they're good at hiding it/keeping theirs. They already have your info. Everyone's.

Vega FE numbers + AMD's silence on Vega 64 numbers, and deflecting questions about performance when pressed = pretty good composite for how benchmarks are going to look. Read between the lines.
The only line I care about is:
Performance --------------------------Price.

If Vega provides a superior or equal experience than NVIDIA products at the same price point, then it's a competitive or superior product. If you want to trash talk Vega simply because it won't perform as good as the TitanXP (which costs quite a bit more) then you must also trash talk all other NVIDIA products that aren't TitanXP. If you want to trash talk a product that has not been released, benchmarked, or reviewed, then you're just a fanboy.

Every time I shop or log into Amazon, they are selling my search history to advertisement companies. My iphone has a GPS and so does my 2016 Lexus. Doesn't bother me.

Identity theft can happen to anyone, even to those who disable every single privacy feature on their devices. Even if you do somehow disable every single piece of spy crap, you still should monitor credit report anyways.

My campus has about 40,000 students on any given day. I use the wifi on campus and never had issues and I don't use a VPN.

Do you have curtains on your windows?

I actually don't have curtains. I have 7 roommates (College...)..

You do realise that in some states (most likely yours) that if you are seen naked threw an open curtain you are at risk of being labeled a sex offender. In many states simply having the ability for someone to look into your home and see you naked counts as public indecency, and in many states if you are convicted of public indecency you are required to be registered as a sex offender.

Well we always suspected professional applications were hobbled on purpose on consumer cards. Now we know. Otherwise how would they sell the quadro with less computing power but 5times the price?

For the CUDA performance I get when converting BluRays with these Titan's, NVidia can have anything they want from me.

Installed programs, website history, college grades, kidney, spleen, liver....

Hell if I had a secret porno tape I'd give em that too! Worth it! ;)

Yeah!!!!! free performance!!!
as long as it increases my Folding/Bitcoin/Gaming I am all in.
Funny how it does not mentioned the driver version.
Going to download now!

Kyle do you still need a sample to review? I could loan you mine.

edit:
It's the Beta driver 385.12

"All written off against tax..."

hahahaha....no business education?..."written off" nonsense

no business pays "taxes"...in a properly run business taxes are estimated and added into the consumer cost of their products or services...simple , those in the " they write it off " cult should have stayed awake in high school business class

With this new driver I beat my Superposition Benchmark scores using lower GPU clocks.

Lol. You have no idea how much more money they can make from a little $2400 “donation”. The publicity is worth much more than that.

Who is this guy and why would people care? Do you really think someone is going to think:

"Well, this celebrity guy got a video card for free. That does it, I am going to buy $300-1000 worth of Nvidia products!".

You can't sue someome based on a lower card being locked out from features if they were never promised, if I am reading your post right. Unless it's a promised feature and it isn't working.
My apologies. My post was as about as a focused train of thought as the inconsistent statements I've come across regarding NV's 10bit non-quadro support and the reasons they still haven't fixed various things post CU/WDDM 2.0. I admit it, I'm still trying to work through my frustrations that have happened since April's updates.

Putting my thoughts to a more coherent path:

NV drivers used to give me a sense of optimism. Some hits, some misses, but I generally felt there was a chance of improvement. Over the last 2-3 years it's become more of a sense of dread. I just never know anymore what will be broken, removed, or crippled. So for me a statement of increased performance for such a costly card only lends itself to a lot of marketing shenanigans. I love NV hardware but it seems like the driver side of the company has a different agenda.

if im understanding this correctly..

this further proves that nvidia purposefully degrades their drivers to force people to upgrade to the next card.
hence why it always seems like each driver version gets worse.

its just not me, its been millions of people with the same speculation through the decade about nvidias drivers.

how can they unlock driver performance? by creating a botched driver in the first place.

People (in general) need to stop this blind loyalty to corporations.

Why does it have to be people are following them blindly? Its sad but true that AMD cannot compete with NVIDIA in some segments. Want to run newer released games in something greater than 1080P and high FPS? Sadly, AMD really cant do that for a lot of games with a single card. Also, in the professional setting the number of applications that support CUDA and have so for years is pretty great. For the most part AMD's problem isnt their hardware its their software eco system (or lack there of). Its going to be said well AMD doesnt have the money to do things that NVIDIA does but im sorry that is a horse that really has been beaten do death. At the rate that AMD is going when will they ever have the money to be at parity with NVIDIA? They had a great release with Zen but they would need multiple generations where they catch the competition off guard and i really dont see that happening. I want AMD to succeed but people need to realize some of AMD's problems is their own fault.

Also, when it comes to the telemetry I agree that it is most likely being gathered and sold to 3rd parties but it also is being used for the purpose that they say it is (to improve the product). And to finish do people really think that if AMD wasnt the underdog but NVIDIA was that AMD wouldnt be doing exactly what NVIDIA is doing now. AMD is not doing simply because they cant afford to piss off their consumer base right now. I whole heartily believe they would mine and sell our data if they could as well. They are a corporation and I really cant think of any that really have a conscious. I agree one shouldnt follow a corporation blindly but one shouldnt also follow a corporation simply because they are the underdog. Whoever has the best product wins in my book and when it comes to GPU's for a good number of people for a good number of applications NVIDIA wins

I do not want to subtract how great it is they did this, but at the same time it is kind of shitty because they obviously could have launched with optimized drivers instead of features being shut off. I wonder if this will improve FP16 performance in Mass Effect Andromeda?

These are not optimized or improved drivers. Nvidia just flat out enabled some pro features.

Check out these improvements tested by a guy on Reddit:
Driver Gains:
Catia - 72% Increase
Creo - 107% Increase
Energy - 54% Increase
Medical - 53% Increase
SNX - 654% Increase
Solidworks - 95% Increase

Anyway, Quadro cards have some features enabled that are not enabled on Geforce. One of these features would be hardware accelerated anti-aliased lines. When you turn on edges in SolidWorks or Siemens NX a Quadro card can rotate the model smoothly because these edges are hardware accelerated. A Geforce card chokes and fps drops like a rock.

See this article with benchmarks: https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...e-a-Quadro-video-card-in-Solidworks-2016-751/

"Where the results get interesting is when we used the "Shaded w/ Edges" view mode. With edges enabled we saw absolutely terrible performance with the GeForce cards. Even a GeForce GTX 980 Ti or Titan X were nowhere near the performance of even a Quadro K620 which less than a third the price."

Also look here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/specviewperf-12-workstation-graphics-benchmark,3778-15.html

Siemens NX is brutal on gaming cards. No gaming card gets even 20fps but a Firepro W5000, which is basically a cut down Radeon 7750 is around 45 fps. It's all about what features are enabled in the drivers.

This is a huge deal for people who do CAD work and want to game. With these new drivers it is a card that works in both worlds.

And that's exactly, precisely, what I was trying to convey in my own convoluted way. Tusen Takk!

What are you using to convert that takes advantage of CUDA? Thanks!

What are you using to convert that takes advantage of CUDA? Thanks!

I'm not sure what he used, but I know of one example: DVDFab

http://www.dvdfab.cn/nvidia-cuda-and-amd-app.htm

https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forum/dvdfa...are-acceleration-in-dvdfab~updated-6-may-2017

I haven't used this myself but it's a popular program.

edit: I'm not really up to speed on the status of DVDFab. The last I knew there was some lawsuit and they were supposed to stop selling to people in the US. I think they did stop for a while but then at some point started accepting orders again so they were in hot water again for a while. I really am not sure of the status now. It may not be possible for people in the US to buy it though.

CloneBD mostly.

It does bug up rarely at times and not detect it, but when it does.... whoosh. (compared to pre-CUDA conversions).
