Harvard Business Review (HBR) has ranked NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang as the second best performing CEO on its list of the Top 100 Best Performing CEOs in the World 2018. HBR calculates leadership and performance with a score that looks at the long view of financial returns over the CEO's entire tenure. This means that the list tends to favor CEOs that have been on the job for longer periods.

The HBR staff calculates an ESG rating for each CEO that includes environmental, social, and governance issues. Adaptability in an ever changing global environment and employee review sites such as Glassdoor are calculated into the rankings. A few other notable tech related CEOs included on the list are Marc Benioff of Salesforce, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe Systems, Brad Smith of Intuit, Hock Tan of Broadcom, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Jeffrey Bezos of Amazon, and Redd Hastings of Netflix.

Since 2013 only six CEOs have appeared every year: Jeffrey Bezos, of Amazon; Pablo Isla, of Inditex; Blake Nordstrom, of Nordstrom; Paolo Rocca, of Tenaris; James Taiclet Jr., of American Tower; and Renato Alves Vale, of CCR. Even among this select group, Bezos stands tall: On the basis of financial performance alone (that is, disregarding the ESG component of our rankings), Amazon's founder has been the top-performing leader each year we've compiled the ranking since we began using our current methodology, in 2014. And since Bezos first topped the list, in November of that year, the company's stock price has grown more than sixfold.

The ESG component of their rankings must be very small if Bezos is on that list...

He made Amazon successful and continues too. Amazon going to be one of 3 companies that will own the world in the future. All while looking down on us all from his moon base.

Does anyone know any Nvidia employees and if they like their higher ups? My buddy has been at Google for 12+ years in middle management and says Larry, sergei and other higher ups are actually pretty decent chaps.

The secret was to jack GPU prices sky-high when GPUs were in peak demand, which they were because having more GPUs meant lots of people could make more money for themselves.

So, to be a great-performing CEO, just have the thing that everybody suddenly wants and needs, and then exploit that position with obscene pricing?

I didnt say he didnt make Amazon successful, I said the ESG component of their rankings must be very small. Amazon may be profitable but they have a horrible reputation in a number of areas. Have you heard about how he treats his employees?

Nvidia didn’t do that.

All through the mining craze Nvidias prices stayed the same. Retailers scalped you.

Shhh.. facts have no place here.

It's baffling how many people complaining about Nvidia prices apparently also slept through Econ 101. Even with the new RTX cards, Nvidia's legally obligated by their shareholders to set prices to whatever the market will bear and create the most revenue. Do I personally wish their GPUs were cheaper, sure. But I also view reality through an adult lens, and understand that there are enough people willing to pay more for the GPU than me - it's that simple.

Gamers throw around the word scalping about LUXURY CLASS GPUs like they're hurricane victims being gouged on food and water.

Still, GPUs couldn't stay on the shelves because people wanted them for mining. So, to be a top-performing CEO, be in the right place at the right time, and just keep on pumping your product out to market as fast as possible.
