5nm, but what about the also rumored Hopper architecture?

“Talk has already begun on Nvidia's next gen GPUs - Lovelace, with their RTX 30 graphics cards impressing in specs, price and performance - if not availability. But, apparently RTX 40 GPUs will be 5nm based and bring some interesting changes to the table. With competition between Nvidia and AMD as hot as ever, will RDNA 3 be able to compete against RTX Lovelace?”

Hopper being MCM isn’t ready, they are finding that it is computationally expensive to present an MCM package to the OS as a single unit. So as it currently stands they need more multi GPU support in games before they can launch it. Otherwise they will suffer the same problems as early multi core CPU’s where one unit or CCX or what ever they call it gets all the work load and the others are left more or less untouched.
This I think is another reason why NVidia is spending time and resources working with major developers to get them familiar with multi GPU code in both DX12 and Vulkan. So unless NV makes a big breakthrough in how to present their MCM architecture as a single cohesive unit we need better multi-GPU support first.
 
Its a little annoying when you're thinking about buying a new GPU, to hear about the GPUs after the new GPU you're looking to buy. Can't wait forever but damn. And odds are the gains on this will be huge with a better manufacturing process.

Do yourself a favor and don't think about it. Set for release 2022, so actual availability maybe in 2023.

Iceland is in a special place. I wonder what they charge for the geo thermal power there?
