i got a pretty good i7 920

default vcore is 0.950 and its stable at 4.0 1.190 HT on and 4.2 @ 1.230 HT on

the only problem is the temps are high even with a lapped TRUE

at stock the thing idles at 39-42c and overclocked it idles at 46-48c and loads up at 83c under prime/linpack

i think the IHS is the problem

looking at the pic it seems there is alot of TIM around the edges but hardly any in the center

the thing is i had a great clocking lapped Q6600 before this and i found it more difficult selling on than i thought as it was a great clocker

i saw worse clocking unlapped Q6600 sell for more

has anyone here sold a lapped cpu in the past was it more difficult or maybe there was no demand at the time i listed it for sale

its already been sold i got £85 for it saw another unlapped q6600 that toped out at 3.2Ghz sold for £100 afew weeks before

mine did 3.6 @ 1.36v

Your temps really aren't that bad for air cooling. If it is only hitting 83 degrees when stress testing than you are probably in the low 70 degree range for anything else. I personally wouldn't worry about it as you are hitting a fantastic overclock all ready.
