lol in europe? tomorrow.. why? because its europe and their criminal laws are a joke but yet they have to control everything you do, say, and buy.

but the game thing is always a scape goat excuse defense lawyers use. i mean shit go look at every murder case caused by an 18-30 year old in the US in the last 10 years. bet 9 out of 10 of them they used the violent game excuse.

And here we go... again.

Well, atleast he isnt blaming them as the reason why he did what he did.

I hate how they try to connect things that are not necessarily relevant. If he had said "I drank coca cola every day to prepare for my big day of killing" they would not be after coca cola. And is clicking a mouse button really comparable to holding a gun and firing it at people?

I am sure they are going to fail to mention that this psycho also was in youth military organizations when referring to his "video game" training.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/19/world/europe/norway-breivik-trial/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

CNN was the only place that headlined it that I saw. Wonder how long till there's a new "law" proposed.

The EU is dieing to , Germany is and continues to treat violent video games like instructional videos for murdering people.

I'm glad he was declared sane to stand trial but there is no way he is "sane" at all. You can't do what he did because you played "CS" a bunch , games don't train you for the vast array of different things that can go wrong.

In reality his set of circumstances was just a "perfect" storm of such. Lots of people in a remote location and one psychotic mass murderer.

I don't think such a law will pass here (at least not in any of the decent states , I won't say its impossible for the shitty ones). While Gun laws are far to lax in this country , heavily restricting them is an extremely hard task.

Norway is typically pretty good about not blaming games, American Press is not.

Germany has and always will be retarded about everything media, Theres movies from the 70's just now being released in Germany because their censorship laws are so prudish. They definitely do not speak for the EU or UN.

This is just more sensational american journalism I'm sure Norway will not give a fuck.

I wonder if all that porn I watch makes me a porn star?

Close... playing too many FPS turns you into a mass-murderer not a highly trained soldier... so I imagine too much porn turns you into a rapist and not a porn star.

Just like too much Diablo makes you a Satanist.

Too much Simcity makes you an Arsonist.

And too much Starcraft makes you die in a Korean PC bang, but nobody notices for hours.

Wait.

I take a dump every day, does that mean I want to nuke the Eiffel Tower? Someone get back to me fast, because this is pertinent information.

On a serious note: Torture. They should torture him, for hours and hours. Days on days. Then lock him up for life.

no it just means any time that comes up anywhere to create a thread here at [H]

CNN and the media in general are a joke... why do we bother sharing their "news" all the time?

Because obviously, shooting children on a small island where they couldn't run requires the cat like reflexes only achieved through endless hours of video games.

This guy is crazy (in the colloquial sense, not the legal definition), and video games have as much to do with his crimes as U2 has to do with Charles Mason.

I wonder if shooting people is good training for video games?

I can see someone trying out for some CS Clan or something putting that on their app:

"Yo I was over dere in EYE-RAQ, shot me some what 40 of dem sum bitches in da head. I got da skillz son, owned dem noobs hard!"

Just like America goes apeshit on anything that involves nudity/sex and alcohol?

I would think it makes more sense for teenagers to see sex and alcohol(since drinking is legal @ 16, everything hardcore @ 18) than watching people get killed on TV.

And no, I don't think video games have anything to do with crimes.

People who think that shooting games train people to go on shooting sprees don't know anything about games or shooting.

People go seriously nuts in solitary confinement. Don't even let the bastard exercise, just stick him in a 4x6 room for the next 50 years. No windows, and he only gets meals from a slot. No one to talk to. No books or TV, just sit there.

Imagine being stuck in a white concrete box for 50 years. You'd wish you were dead. You'd wish someone was torturing you, just to have the company.

If you think you can "train" yourself to shoot people in real life by playing WoW and CoD:MW, you're a FUCKING RETARD, and I don't care how many hardforum infractions I get for saying that.

There's a great episode of Penn & Teller bullshit where they take a video game addicted kid who plays nothing but CoD:MW all day and they allow him to shoot a real gun (supervised) and he ends up crying his eyes out afterwards simply because it's just too real to cope with.

lol most he can get is 15 or 25 years i can't remember which one it is.. europe doesn't do "life in prison" for any crimes nor do they execute anyone.. to bad they couldn't secretly ship this douche bag to texas and put him in the death row express lane.

Saying you learned to shoot a rifle from CoD is like saying I learned blacksmithing from WoW.

I'll take some Green Mail items. Hauberk first. Will tip.

It's amazing to me that some people are actually stupid enough to believe that if I'm using a gun in a videogame that somehow that really trains me to use a REAL fire arm in real life. You don't even have to have ever used a gun in real life to think that through for a few seconds and laugh out loud at the absurdity but as ever, a certain narrative and agenda is going to get pushed come hell or high water.

Unreal.
