Nokia Suing Apple For Patent Infringement

If we had an award for "dick move of the day" I'd probably give it to Nokia for filing this lawsuit against Apple. This whole thing reminds me of 2009 when they were both suing each other for patent infringement.

The two companies had a deal in 2011 that covered some Nokia patents, but Nokia says efforts to reach a broader pact have gone nowhere. “Nokia has created or contributed to many of the fundamental technologies used in today's mobile devices, including Apple products,” Nokia patent head Ilkka Rahnasto said in a statement. “After several years of negotiations trying to reach an agreement to cover Apple's use of these patents, we are now taking action to defend our rights."

While I dont care about Apple being sued in the slightest... our entire patent system is a joke.

Not a patent troll, that's for sure. Unlike a patent troll, Nokia poured time and money into developing their patents, just because they don't use them doesn't mean they should let people infringe on their work. However, it is a dick move to start a suing spree as soon as you are out of the phone business (and it became impossible for you to infringe on any existing or future phone tech patents) as the article implies.
