No Windows 10 "sounds" but all other sound works

I booted up this morning and noticed I had no Windows (1803) native sounds. All other sounds work fine (via speakers, headphones).
I ran the audio troubleshooter (it found no issues) and searched the net for answers but I'm stumped. I cannot get the "test" button to toggle and play the sound. The browse button does work. Highlighting any sound in the "Sound" panel will not work. I have no sound when Windows boots up or sound when like deleting trash. I have no errors in device manager. Tried changing the sound scheme..no go. Rebooted..no go.
Like I said all other sound functions work fine with my Soundblaster Z. Any ideas?

What output device doe you have selected in the Playback Tab? What happens if you change the "Sound Scheme" drop down to 'Windows Default" rather than "Windows Default (modified)"?

NM, fixed. System sound was set to zero in the volume mixer. No clue why it would have done that.
