Hey, gr8 stuff! Is it possible to upgrade the LG 24GM77 144hz with that board?
Whats happening here
how the strobe works in this board? 4K60Hz and strobe backlight?
Strobing at 60Hz would be visibly flickery and unplesant to look at.
Some people find it usable (on a xl2720z) including me - I find it very useful for playing games that can't run at anything higher but I still want to play with minimal blur, and 60fps console games but I grew up with 50hz PAL crt flickering
cirthix Would an ultrawide monitor by LG work? Monitor model in question in my sig. Thanks!
Edit: Though I do know it only has DP & HDMI, so probably not? This is for DVI only? I've just only begun to read through this thread, so I apologize for my lack of knowledge.
Great news: latest version of DP2LVDS has better signal integrity characteristics and can operate in the HBR2/5.4Gbps DP1.2 mode. Using 1080p240 over DP now. Will get a radeon graphics card to check freesync operation ASAP.

Did anybody say it was compatible with eDP LCDs?

If, so, sign me up for one DVI, or DP when available!

Will this work with a Apple Cinema Display 27 inch? Those use the LG ips 1440p panel.
free/gsync with strobing possible? the main scenario i'm concerned with is where the framerate is locked to 120. obviously the variable refresh thing doesn't come into play there, and the varying refresh rate is afaik why nvidia doesn't allow gsync with ulmb, so i don't see a reason why this wouldn't work. no motion blur, no input lag, no tearing is like the absolute most optimal setup possible and for some reason nvidia won't let us do it.
but enabling gsync and ulmb at the same time in a game like counter-strike where you can hold 120 fps 100% of the time would be totally fine, right? or am i missing something? It can be enabled, doesn't mean it looks good.
The problem is that brightness varies with framerate in this scenario. If you want to have perceptually constant brightness, you'd need to add some frames of latency to do so. A predictive approach is possible but nobody does it. Probably because predicting frametimes in games is a very difficult task, and if you screw it up, the user will notice it as a visibly flickery display and it will look like garbage.
Edit: also, overdrive is different with strobing. Having variable refresh mixed in makes it also harder to do. For 'optimal' results, additional latency is needed.

is there any way something like that could be tied in with your board or is it not possible because gsync is proprietary or some other reason? i don't know jack about any of the actual hardware so sorry if this is a dumb question, i just wish i could use ulmb with gsync on my PG278QIf you can have a soft guarantee of fixed framerate, it could be done with minimal sideffects, but NV has not implemented this functionality. You could add it with some hacking.
Yes, you should be able to get 115-120Hz out of it. You'll also need to swap the eDP TCON for the LVDS one, but these are fairly cheap.
Sweet! I am down for one of these then. I wonder if I could add the gsync module from the pg279q to the cinema ips display..

Will this work with my HP ZR2740W V2? According to TFTCentral, I have the http://www.panelook.com/LM270WQ1-SDDB_LG%20Display_27.0_LCM_overview_19942.html ...
I have been quite happy with the monitor would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get 120Hz out of it..Also any chance of adding FreeSync? I know you mentioned FS over HDMI, but since my panel only have a DL-DVI and DP input, I would prefer to keep to one of those if possible..
No, eDP is even easier. eDP panels can usually be driven directly from displayport with no chips in-between.
I dislike the direct passthrough as it requires scaling to run on the PC, which is a pain, and limits it to DP only, so I can't do screen double-duty with a PS4. I have one of these set up with an Ipad retina display.
I really want the onboard scaler, even with it's increased latency, and variable frame rate is also a fantastic feature.

OK, so far we have tons of questions "will it work with my blah". What about the board itself? When and where can we buy it?
Email support@zisworks.com. A webstore has not yet been set up.
I have four boards ready to ship and about 7 orders to fulfil. Hand-assembling and testing individually is slow work. I made a new layout which has components on only one side and will try stencil+solderpaste+reflow oven soon.
I should get a 260x (cheapest gcn1.1 card that I could find) tomorrow. Downloaded the freesync demo program and it only has options for 45-50-55-60fps. Has anyone modified this to do more for testing purposes?
Sadly I can assume absolutely zero support from AMD at this point .
Looks like the HBR2/5.4G mode is unstable between my board and the r7 260x. Ahwell, known-problem with this chip (new-rev should fix it).
Unfortunately, freesync is "not supported" in the radeon control panel despite my efforts to enable it. Anyone know how to properly detect freesync or force-enable this? Pretty sure it is not EDID-related.
I know that at the moment, FreeSync is only enabled through HDMI or Displayport 1.2a
Hi Cirthix I know this may sound silly but could this support A Sync on green VGA cable by chance(with a VGA to DVI adapter of course), See I have a few older consoles that do SoG, and I want to avoid using a lm1881 stripper or a YpbPr Transcoder.
But besides that, I still am interested, what is the Highest quality panel I could buy say off Ebay, alilibaba, and other source and make my own panel would you recommend?
I'm curious. Would this work with the Philips BDM4350UC to give me 4k60hz and 0 input lag? I'm not complaining about the little input lag I do have on this new beast but, having NONE sounds like an interesting proposition.
Thanks.
