I bought a sound card and experienced nothing but headaches trying to get optical audio working properly so I returned it and switched back to onboard audio, now my settings are borked and I can't watch DVDs. Background music, sound effects, etc. all work fine but there is no dialogue when people talk. Anybody know what could be wrong? Does it have anything to do with AC3Filter?

Just figured out it's because my windows audio control panel was set to 5.1 and the center channel/rears werent working when I went to hit test. I set it to 2.1 stereo and now I can hear dialogue but I'm not getting 5.1 either. :(

If you're listening to movies through optical then you have to set your dvd software to use optical out. There really shouldn't be an option for 5.1 because your receiver will decode whatever audio track the movie may have.
