Nintendo NX will crush XB1 and mame PS4

It looked really authentic because another person decided to do 3D printing of the NX controller based on the first leak.
 
With all of these console wars, here is what I would really like to see in my next console.

Sony handling the hardware specs
Microsoft handling the system OS and game controller
Nintendo working on games and the Kinect like motion sensing game stuff.

I have no time to game even on the single console. I have and in fact got rid of my gaming PC to a very lucky Hardforum member who snapped it up when I priced it to move. I absolutely hate these console exclusives and don't want to buy a Nintendo just for Mario. I don't own a PS because I absolutely hate their controllers(although better than the last couple Nintendos).
 
Have you actually tried the PS4 controller? It's way better than the PS3 controller and more comfortable than the Xbox One controller. That one puts my thumb in a weird position and causes it to hurt quicker than it should.

Absolutely. The PS style controllers have never been compatible with my hand and little fingers. The thumbstick locations are actually what I find to be most ergonomic about the XB1 controller. I was relieved that they didn't make too many changes from the X360 as I thought that controller was perfect. I will give you that it is an improvement over the PS3, but again the thumbsticks feel alien to me. Besides, I don't even have time to game on just the XB1 let alone trying to find time to game on multiple consoles.

I think the Xbone controller is definitely the best traditional controller seen yet. The PS4 con looks weird, but feels nice and the integrated trackpad is definitely a useful addition, but the control sticks and Concave trigger-pull on the Xbone pad is enough to set it apart. No way I can stand the convex trigger pull on the PS4 con. this is why cross-platform games use R1 and L1 instead of the 'oh s*** my finger is slipping off' triggers for firing a weapon.

And that is exactly what some of my buddies of said. I mostly stick to driving games and RPG's where those attributes are very useful, but they are into MMOFPS type games and rave about those exact same features. Different strokes for different people, but even some of my PS4 fanboy acquaintenances will reluctantly agree that the XB1 has the superior controller just like the X360 controller was superior to the PS3.

Well since I foolishly misspelled MAIM, I should probably refrain from further comment on this point.
I could take the stance that MAME was a video game pun and I should be held in higher regard but I am a moron.

However, you may be right, PS4 will be crushed and XB1 (because it is lower power) will run on MAME on a cracked NX.
There, everything is right with the world. The internet is now safe for everyone.
 
BUT WAIT, Lets speculate.

The NX would have to be more powerful than both because they aren't going to waste the high ground battle position they are on. They can work with AMD to produce a console that is incrementally more powerful than the XB1 or the PS4, they would be STUPID not to.

I will say it again. Most people will choose a PS4 OR a XB1 and then add a NX after that. IF it is a "normal" console. Only Nintendo can ruin this for them.selves.
 
Will it crush PS 4.5, due this holiday season?

When I say more powerful I am talking a minimal increase. We still don't know what the specs are but I assume that AMD has something NOW that is at least a bit more powerful than the PS4.
Maybe not more powerful but I expect at least completely equal to PS4.
 
lets forget backward compatibility and support from 3rd party developper...
 
I actually hope they do go with "cartridges". Basically all it would have to be is a proprietary SATA or M.2 connector with flash memory. It could be super fast in comparison with waiting for load times all the time or having to install ungodly amounts of data every time you just want to play a new title. 32gb of flash isn't really expensive these days. 64gb and above could be done on titles that want a lot of video. 32gb should be plenty for 99% of titles though.

However the negative is that speeding the console up in this way is backwards from having a connected system in the sense that going cartridge requires something physical, whereas it maybe wise to move to a 100% download model. It's obvious that the trend is going towards 100% connected, media-less systems.

Still, if there is an SSD in the system at launch, they could arguably do both. Let's hope for intelligence.

EDIT: as a side note they could easily use USB 3.1, or XQD Flash or virtually any other speedy flash system which already exists and is quick. USB is less likely due to CPU overhead but just putting it out there. The trick of course is copy protection and cost. Still, super hopeful.

Also: Comparing tech in 2016 to the original Nintendo isn't even realistic. The days of blowing ended with the SNES.

That's going to depend on developers who released games prior to Neo. I'd imagine some first party titles will get a patch.

The only third party game I want to see get a boost is Bloodborne. It's going to have quite a bit more grunt. It almost doubles the ROPs and has a nice increase in memory bandwidth.

I guess there is a bright side to this model in that games you really care about might get a bump in quality and maybe DLC, get rereleased as a "remastered" version and there you go.
But you will pay pay pay....

Nintendo is the only one pushing out any form of hardware innovation.

Microsoft and Sony have only put out faster hardware while maintaining what they've always done. None of them puts out interesting controllers or novel new ways to play games.

And to think Nintendo is the one pushing out the same games constantly is extremely narrow. Zelda comes every 6 years. COD is a yearly affair. So they capitalize on their IP? Yes show me who doesn't. I would argue that Nintendo rehashes less often than either of its two competitors.
 
Nintendo is the only company to make a console that isn't full of rehashed bullshit - I don't understand how anyone could think otherwise. Keep your battlefield and call of duty bullshit. The PS4 and Xbox are boring. Anything good that they get is better on my PC anyway. Nintendo first party games are where its at. NX take my money

No rehashed bullshit? What do you call the decades of titles revolving around Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc? Their formulas hardly evolve within a console generation and they've remained largely unchanged gameplay wise since the N64 20 years ago. There is what...Mario Kart 8 and Mario Party 9 now? Probably 10+ Mario platformers and Zelda games.

Anything good the PS4 gets is better on PC? Enjoy playing some of the highest rated and/or most anticipated games in recent years; Bloodborne, Uncharted, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, and The Last of Us on your PC...oh wait. Xbox One on the other hand, yeah that's a sinking ship with many of its games going to PC.

I grew up with Nintendo but in my opinion as soon as that shovelware of a console, the Wii, came out Nintendo lost their direction. I hope the NX changes things, but it has gotten to the point where I wish Nintendo would just become a software developer.

You just put ratchet and clank on your list of most anticipated and highest rank games. Literally every game you just listed that I am "missing out on" are overrated shit. I have tried all of them and haven't thought twice about any of them. Literally every single Nintendo game you mentioned is infinitely better than those

Look, you're entitled to your opinion, but you glossed over my post above this.
A "rehash" for Nintendo is once every 6 years, or once every console generation. Nintendo is focused. They make something that is developed and thought through.
It's extremely rare for Nintendo to have more than one iteration of any flagship product. Some don't even get one a generation (like Donkey Kong, one of the ones you mentioned in your list).

Making one per generation makes sense, because you know people want to play the latest version of Smash Bros and Mario Kart on a new console.
EVERY console manufacturer rehashes. It's just about which rehashes you consider worth playing.

Despite how I loathe all sports games, could care less about CoD and BF, and would happy to never catch another calculated gimmick FPS. Some people clearly love this stuff or they wouldn't sell a million-billion every year. Frankly to me, third parties are a complete wash.
First party is where it's at. Naughty Dog vs Nintendo? Sure I guess. Arguing over which set is better than another is fruitless... as there is no objective opinion regarding them.

What would be the point? You don't need anyone to tell you what to play. (And this whole thread is about people either loving or hating whatever series of games... and sadly far less of a discussion about the NX. It's not like me putting up titles will all of a sudden make you want to play them).
If you want suggestions you can read reviews from whatever reviews you (somewhat) trust.

They should just quit fucking around, make a 300 dollar game full of mini games with some bullshit main story, that's 200 hours long; Super Smash Donkey Party Kart Zelda 12!!!11!!!!

And then actually release new stuff.

A gaming console is only as good as the games it offers, hence why games might be an important part of the discussion. Your response is basically a copout.

Lol I still own an original blue BW gameboy since a kid, I also still have a donkey kong arcade portable that's worth a bit, but it needs some new caps. Have enjoyed using various nintendo consoles over the years, found the 3ds to be great for what it was designed for : kids. I don't hate nintendo, I just want to see them do some new, interesting stuff again. All I see these days is same old kid/party stuff. it's fine but it's not going to keep me entertained for long.

When they have something fresh with a captivating story to the level of impact of pokemon, goldeneye etc again, I'll be interested. They need to put money into creating new IP. Sony and M$ can do it, albeit on a limited level these days. Nintendo needs to as well.

P.S. pretty sure the only COD I have somewhere, is one of the originals. More of a Doom/Quake/UT/TF/BF/FO + bit of CS type.

This might have been true when the thread first started, as the machines are quite slow,

but i wonder how the NX would stack up to the 4tf ps4k or 6tf xbox1(2) "scorpio"
