The Nikon SB-28, although outdated, seems to be a killer flash at a reasonable price.
The LumoPro LP160 is a bit more modernized with more features and better quality all around; it can be had for $170 shipped and has very high praises.
I'm using a Canon 40D and am looking for something to get started in the world of lighting.
I'm planning on picking up a $35 umbrella/stand kit from Amazon & going with a DIY Softbox.
I kinda want two strobes to start but cheaper is better but I don't want crap, so I figure I can either pick up two SB-28's on eBay for ~$100 each or snatch the LP160, taking a slightly higher road of quality/durability.
I suppose I'll use PC sync cords to connect the flash to my 40D ? (very very new to photography lighting of any sort).
I also like the ability to use an external battery or AC/DC power supply for the SB-28 as AA's are $$$ after a while.

I'll hate myself for a couple weeks if I spend much over $200-ish

Your thoughts/suggestions would be highly appreciated.
