Nighthawk x6 issues

I'm on my second Nighthawk x6, and may need a third unless someone can convince me it's not the hardware:
Wired connections work, and the wireless connections show as working, but they barely get any throughput any more. Some devices show a wireless connection, but no internet.

Tried rebooting. Update the firmware. No dice.

Thoughts?

Custom firmware? Otherwise ditch that POS and move to a dedicate AP like Unifi hardware.

How many wireless clients?
What environment are you placing this Nighthawk into?
2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?
Are you in an apartment, or otherwise highly populated area?
Building construction?
How far away are your wireless clients from the Nighthawk?
Have you tried any other wireless routers?

Wireless is a finicky, yet a necessary beast in most cases. You are lacking a ton of details here for us to help you. Even a "good, dedicated AP" may not fix your problem if all your wireless clients are 2.4G and you have 30 neighbors with wireless networks and 2.4G.

Disable smart connect, you manage the 2 5ghz radios yourself, and assign devices to each one to balance the load. Smart Connect seems to be pretty wonky on these "AC3200" routers.

I bought Nighthawk X6 last month but returned it, but not to due to the poor WiFi. I liked having the extra 5Ghz band but I had two major issues. One, just couldn't get to used to Netgear GUI. And the bigger issue was that no matter what tweaking I did, WAN to LAN could not saturate my Comcast gigabit Internet. This is testing via two PC wired connected via CAT6 cables. Bandwidth was pretty much cut in half. Theoretical maximum is about 940 Mbps, but I could only get 450 Mbps throughput with this router WAN to LAN.

That's because it's a limitation with Broadcom processing NAT, etc. It's a hardware limitation with routing processes.

buy a ubiquity... anything made by belkin or netgear is pure shit. Asus is ok but I use ubiquity. It's a pain in the ass to setup but it never crashes, reboots or gives me shit. Oh and it's a linux box....

You also could disable the wireless and use it as your router. I use an old Netgear n300 based router in my network and it works fine.

Hmmm I never thought about that, just keep the old router and add a better AP. (sorry for highjacking)
