nForce4 Mobos...keeping an eye out at the major national distributors

Yeah I'm wondering about the X800xl too, but that's second thought after the mobo and processor. Still, 100 bucks cheaper than the 6800 GT, makes my graphic card choice easier overall, if they show up...

I guess overall I overestimated Abit's and DFI's marketshares compared to the rest. I knew DFI was catered to the enthusiasts, but to think that they're not even second-tier.

The $299.00 USD reseller quoted above is the same one I saw a day or three ago. Just looked up the USA one listed above, www.computerhq.com on resellerratings.com.

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1902.html

Not a HORRID rating, but not what I'd call pristine at all, 6.75 last six months, lifetime is 5.23. Didn't read any of the actual reviews so don't know the nature of the complaints, but I don't know if I'd let them hold onto my money for a month or three, or at least my number for a credit card charge if they don't charge it the minute I send in the order. Even if it was right at retail for the reseller's price, I'd really have to think about it, I'd probably still wait to see if a store I'm more familiar with suddenly had it for a back order.

Oh, and if I didn't say this before, if they don't improve the BIOS on my ASUS by the time both the MSI & DFI are out, I suspect it will be a coin toss between the two. Both look pretty good to me.

There are actually less choice of motherboard types because lots of peeple bought the first round of nforce4 boards, but there are lower prices on the the A8N-SLI boards. The DFI boards will be hitting stores around Jan 26 to 28 from what i can tell. Trying to keep track of all on this list from watching threads like these and checking the stores.

Socket 939 K8T890 , nForce4, SiS 756, Radeon Xpress 200 Next Gen Motherboard Pricing and Availability List

Your doing a great job SureFire, keep up the good work. I've been watching your thread and hopeing to grab an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum for a descent price in the next few weeks.

Nah, don't feel stupid, ZZF raised the price shortly after it made the front page. Then it went back down to $199.99, which is where that board should be. X800 XL isn't showing up anywhere yet...but the X700 is available which is odd, becuase I know a lot of people thought it was going to be replaced by the X800 XL. It is priced @ $239-$249, which if the XL hits its price point making the X700 fairly card obsolete...I just can't see those cards coexisting in the market, at least for very long...why not just save up for a week, mow a few yards or sell some lemonade (of course those are two valid options living in Florida, those of you up north can shovel peoples drives ways or sell hot chocolate).

No official word back from DFI, but I am hearing February. Of course it could go either way...

No word on MSI's ETA either. I will throw this out there, for anyone looking for a good price on a retail boxed 90nm 3500+, TigerDirect has them for $289. Best price I have found yet, and I have been looking. Of course the prices are supposed to drop on those by about $15 in a week.

AMD's quarterly price cut?

Damn, i didn't feel the time go by

I think I posted on this, but maybe I was just shooting the $hit with someone....

On January 3rd, most of all the Athlon64 chips (at least the ones available) both 754 and 939 went up about $20..when I asked around, most reps didn't even realize it until I had them check. no one could give me an explanation. So I let my stock dwindle, I figured that becuase AMD wasn't going to really push out any higher speed A64s any time soon, when Intel cuts their prices in Feb, they could match that cut with their own...which I guess is a long way of saying I was wrong :D Intel is cutting their prices in Feb, so while AMD may reduce their prices in a week, they may yet do it again when Intel does it next month.

Anyone keeping an eye out for non-sli boards showing up at the major national distributors?

If that's not Monarch ... I would've gone for it ... will get to try the Chaintech from Zipzoomfly instead ...

Just to ask, what's wrong with Monarch? Only complaint I've had with them is they recently switched to signature required on everything they ship, so even my signature waiver with Fed-Ex is no good...I end up missing a lot of packages and having to pick it up from my local Fed-Ex garage at the end of the day if I buy from them. Otherwise, they have always been decent with me.

But I like ZipZoomFly too. ;)

Let's just say they are one of the vendors that are at the bottom of my list. One bad experience is all I need ... then I'm weary ...

I've always had Very Good Service with Monarch and support, too, when I had to RMA a motherboard. Not only that, they usually get the newest AMD processors first in the USA.

Fair enough. For what it's worth, I wouldn't take it as a flame if you did give a specific reason as to why you don't like them, but also understand if you don't want to or can't be specific.

been gone from the thread for awhile...

SureFire you have been doing a good job of keep things up to date...

Wow...ZZF sure got an early stock on those DFIs...I just checked and there is still only a SKU at my vendors...But the big three (MSI, Asus, Gigabyte) are all readily available at good prices..

The 6800GTs are starting to show up pretty regularly as well, and for a decent price...Ultras, well they are still allocated and pricey...

Still looking for the X800 XLs...you know this is all pretty pathetic when it comes to availability...not that I am a huge Mac fan, but when they released the mini-mac, they actually had them available at launch...for a good price to boot. Apple had good availability and price, and ATI/nVidia can't do either, what is this world coming to.
