Newegg + Ontrac = Your're screwed?

I ordered a Phanteks Enthoo Primo case today and found out it's being shipped via OnTrac. With many reports of those cases being damaged in transit, I don't have high hopes. It only has to go from SoCal to NorCal though...

Amazingly, it made it here by 10 am the next day. I looked over the case and it appears to be without damage.

Amazon was shipping me packages from Ontrac over a year ago; now they went to USPS/Fedex Smartpost (USPS). They have always got my stuff to me within 48 hours from shipping; but they are not too far from me. No issues with my orders.

Though the first time I received a package from them, I was alerted by the loud screeching sound in the street. Looked out the window to see a van coming to a stop (must have been driving too fast), having over shot my house. Backs up and delivers the package. :p

So I just ordered an H100i, and it's coming from the memphis warehouse instead of the california one. No Ontrac, which means I have to wait for Monday since UPS doesn't bother with saturdays.

Bummer. Oh well, so far i'm 4/4 with Ontrac. I really wish you could choose your carrier on Egg like you used to be able to.

No kidding, the PSU I ordered from them shipped from NJ so it had to travel clear across the country. Still, it was the first component for my new build to arrive...

I have good luck with them. I am in CA. So I always get things next days with them if it ships from CA.

I do try to buy from Newegg as little as possible but sometimes they have the best price despite sales tax.

I will pay a little more and/or wait a week for something to arrive to avoid sales tax/Newegg but not a whole lot more.

Wtf!?! I just had nearly $1000 worth of stuff delivered from this weird tracking code I've never seen before and it shows delivered to my apt complex but nobody at the knows anything!? Omfg! Why is there no signature required!? Did these assholes just leave my shit in the sidewalk and called it a day!??

Never had any issues with NewEgg and OnTrac. Of course after spending TONS at NewEgg through the many years, I think I've only had a handful or two of packages shipped via OnTrac. I can say that they have always arrive fast and undamaged, often in two days even though I selected the free "slow" shipping and they even delivered on a Saturday, which also caught me off guard.

Why does shipping on Saturday catch you off guard? At least around here, UPS, FedEx, and USPS ship on Saturday.

Ontrac via Amazon (for me) means overnight or 2 day shipping. Either is fine, and has so far been reliable.

Newegg? I have refused to shop there for years. I used to support them, but no longer, and after my last shipment was bungled, I flat out don't shop with them, anymore.

Someone said something about them falling apart when they went public (obviously, they never got their IPO/ "withdrew IPO"), and the timeframe is about right, in my view.

EDIT: up until a year or so ago, Ontrac in my area was a bit like norco shiping (or whomever monoprice used in California), lots of regular cars and nonuniformed people. EIther that, or I am mixing up the two.

I ordered a laptop for Christmas for myself and it was out for delivery. I waited and and waited, finally I went to bed. Woke up the next morning and the package went back to the local ontrac warehouse. It went back out for delivery for the next day and was delivered while I was at work. When I examined the package it looked wet. It would appear that another package with lotion exploded next to mine and was covered in it. While the package was wet and smelled nasty the laptop was in good condition. That was a really weird situation though lol.

ontrac actually gets to my house extremely fast. Even with free shipping its always two days. But they just leave the package. I left a sign saying don't leave a $400 receiver, and they left it anyway.

I've had more trouble with getting stuff shipped to my home address than I had with getting stuff shipped to my work address, and it doesn't matter who the carrier is.

Yep. I like ontrac, very fast. I guess if I get robbed after they leave 500 bucks worth of stuff on my porch while i'm out, it's insured and we can call New Egg for a refund, right? Am I right?.... er, um.. right? Right.:p

Amazon Same Day is usually done by OnTrac. I've gotten Newegg 3-day stuff from OnTrac too. Where I am, they've done a good job of getting stuff to me. Same day is always same day and the 3-day stuff is usually next day even if it's coming from 1 state over.

Overall FedEx is my personal favorite. They get stuff delivered early, whereas UPS Ground is insanely slow and stuff will sit in a warehouse until its delivery date before getting put on the delivery truck.

I ordered an Obsidian 750D case from newegg a few days ago which was delivered by Ontrac. To my surprise, I opened my front door and the huge box was sitting right there on my porch in plain view. No signature required, and the delivery person never even rang my doorbell or knocked. I have no idea how long it was sitting there. And worst of all, there's a huge picture of a computer case on the side of the box. It could have easily been stolen.

When I looked closer at the box, I noticed there was a big hole in the side of the box and a couple of the corners were crushed. I took the 750D out of the box, and the corner was completely caved in. These Ontrac people definitely don't handle their boxes with care.

Newegg sent me an advance replacement which arrived the next day, and again, the Ontrac delivery person just dropped it on my porch and never knocked or rang my doorbell, and the box looked totally abused. But at least this time, my case 750D wasn't damaged.

I get multiple deliveries from Amazon every week and they use UPS. I've never once had a problem with my boxes being beat up or just left on my porch without even knocking or ringing my doorbell. In fact, the UPS deliveries are always left in a hidden place on my porn so nobody can see them from the street if i'm not home.

TL;DR: Ontrac SUCKS. Boxes arrive beaten up. Delivery person doesn't knock or ring doorbell. Amazon/UPS handles deliveries MUCH better.

Ontrac and DHL both always struck me as just plain ghetto.
