570s are gonna be expensive. But even with that there was not gonna be anyway to get a 3700 chip and 570board sub $300 since the msrp on the chip is already north of that. Maybe a 370 board would get you close to $340

went ahead and purchased the R7-3800x. Not sure If I will be upgrading my motherboard quite yet, Gonna wait for reviews on them.

Might buy a 5700xt as well after seeing the reviews. If its more than 15% faster than my Vega 64.

I bit on a Crosshair VIII Hero and a 3600 for now. Fully plan on throwing the 3600 in my secondary rig and upgrading, but that should tide me over.

I was really hoping the reviews would be out first.

6 AM PDT 9AM EDT is when the embargo lifts.

Just noticed Newegg has everything listed. didnt see the 3800 though

I was considering this combo but I always go asus. so im torn..I like what this board has.. lil more than I thought it would be though. was hoping under 300 for the board

dunno, after seeing the VRM analysis from buildzoid i'm not a huge fan of what ASUS did with their boards.. they sort of just slapped as many VRM's on their boards as possible and said hell with efficiency.. if i do end up going x570 i'm actually leaning more to gigabyte this time which even i'm surprised i'm saying that since i really didn't like their previous boards.

usually more vrm = better efficiency as they don't get as hot and can stay in the sweet spot

I haven't been keeping up but are there some good sources for reviews. I'm looking for new gaming CPU and I was going to go Intel but decided to wait for the AMD release.

meant $300 for the board alone

There are a handful of boards between $160-200, fyi.
But, Newegg is only offering the more expensive motherboards as combos with the 3700, 3700X and 3900X.
The cheaper boards are available with the 3600 and 3600X cpus.

yes and no.. most of the high end x570 boards have to many VRM's.. using the crosshair VIII as an example and using information from buildzoid, the efficiency curve for the vrm's is roughly 17A(260w+), the only cpu that will break 260w is the 3950x when overclocked. but because asus doesn't use doublers you're low load efficiency is shipoopy since it each phase has to run both VRM's in the phase. just felt like they nickle and dimed as much profit out of their boards as possible by not using doublers.. heck what was even more hilarious(since i'm not an intel person) he pointed out that asus's cheapest board(x570-P) has the exact same VRM configuration as their 400+ dollar z390 maximus XI boards.

also 6 minutes to go.. wooooo

That 3600x + msi x570-a pro combo looks pretty nice, think I'll wait a bit this time though.

Bestbuy dropped the ball in my area with stock, Frys doesn’t have anything listed.
