I would give my current rig (running an overclocked AMD Brisbane 3600) to my wife, who desperatly needs a computer of her own that she can use for her at home Ebay business so that I can game without her pushing me off the computer every five minutes.
1. I would upgrade the current computer I have that I purchased parts from newegg (upgrade the 4800+ to the 5000+ Black Edition), then buy more newegg stuff to build another computer. (case, p/s, drives, etc.)
1. Sell my current HTPC, and build a nice one around this CPU with an AMD 3870 as well hooked up to my 42" 1080P for gaming. HD gaming goodness awaits, and that ability to change multipliers would greatly help to tweak and reduce noise.
What would you do if you won an AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition CPU?
Finally get to build me a new system. My athlon XP 2100/DFI NF2 is so old, im amazed it even still works. Would be great to finally jump into 64 bit arena and ditch AGP.
What is the name of the new AMD next-generation desktop processor?
Ahh the phenom.....damn i bet that thing is going to smoke.
You know even though AMD doesnt have the speed crown anymore, and I dont even think the Phenom will get em any closer, I still will only buy AMD. I love the underdog, as long as they still have a decent competitive product to offer. I mean geeze....whats the real difference between 90fps and 110fps. Nothing for me. Im sure some it makes a world of difference to them, but to me...more bang for the buck puts AMD on my desktop every time.
1) I would have my wife record me while I prance around the house naked singing the many praises of AMD, [H]ardOCP and NewEgg in a show-tuney fashion. I would finish with a quick "Don't tase me, bro" and then post the whole thing on YouTube for everyone to gawk at.
I'd take the cpu and affix two straps onto it. I'd then solder a few wires here and there, add a little battery and some circuitry in order to make the most over-powered wrist watch ever created by man. It's so powerful it could tell time using quantum physics and I'd have enough power left over to still compute pi continuously for eternity.
Phenom.
PS or I'd just sell it on the [H] forums cause I'm unemployed =(
1. Go directly to http://newegg.com and purchase an AM2 motherboard, 4GB of A-data DDR2@800Mhz, a 10,000 RPM Western Digital Raptor 150GB drive, and use my existing Nvidia Ge-Force 8600GTS (sorry a present from the parents.......what am I gonna say...no?) and most Definitely purchase a Cooler Master case from http://newegg.com and use the Soprano I have now for another computer, that needs an exterior freshen up.
1) For the sake of mankind, I would build a system around it (most likely with parts bought from newegg) and use that machine to join the [H] folding team.
1. Well I would carefully lap the IHS and replace the Black processor I just bought from NewEgg. I want to lap the one I paid for but do not have the green to risk doing it wrong. Then I would add it the the AN9 32X Fatal1ty, Patriot 2GB DDR2 LL, Seagate 500GB SATA II, and Lite-on DVD/CD burner from NewEgg and see where my custom water cooling setup (Thermaltake Symphony radiator, DangerDen MCP355 with Delrin top, Innovatek CPU, and koolance GPU blocks) would take me. I would hope for at least 3.5 Ghz (50% OC), but have not got the whole thing setup yet so I do not know where the non-lapped CPU is going to top out.
