Not bad at all. Hopefully all the 20 series prices start coming down.

I'm guessing the 8% ebay bucks is a targeted thing because I haven't seen a coupon code.

MIght be...just showed up for me :-/

Even so, if you have ebay $ from last quarter, you can use them against this.

My total came out to $640 + $40 tax = $680 - $51 ebay bucks = $629, and I have $31 from last 1/4 to use, or $598 for me. Still hesitant on this as I want to see what AMD does with Navi.

That’s going to be a while. And this is now. If you have no games to play, I guess it doesn’t matter. But there is something to be said for getting to enjoy this for longer as opposed to waiting.

Tempted to sell my 1080ti to upgrade to the 2080 for basically $50.

Not convinced it’s more than a lateral or even slight downgrade though.

I'm on a 1070 and I'm playing everything at 1440p - still not impressed with performance or price point, need to have another bump up in performance.. maybe next gen.

Sort of but you can only use it at eBay and you have to wait until the next quarter to redeem.

several reviews have said the 1080ti is little quicker than the standard 2080, but not the higher end ones. who knows if that changes with tweaked drivers.

I'm tempted. My 1080Ti is plenty fast for my ultrawide 1440p but I really want to play Metro with RTX GI on. This seems like a better deal than the 2080 Ti.

Not worth it. Ray tracing aside, the performance between the 1080 Ti and 2080 are so close that it would essentially be a side step more than an upgrade.

Disagree. 2080 = better longevity. longer warranty, better resale, more driver improvements, better HEVC NVENC. And I say that as a happy 1080Ti owner, but if I had to replace it, there would be no point getting another one instead of a 2080.

Yes it will be better for all of that, but it won't be so much better that it justifies upgrading from a 1080 Ti at what would likely be a financial loss overall. He doesn't say he has to replace the GPU, from the post it sounds he is doing it purely for performance/feature reasons. If my 1080 Ti failed right now then yeah of course I'd choose a 2000 series card over a used 1080 Ti, but that isn't the case at hand.

Yep I hear you. But if I can find a 2080 for $600 and sell my 1080 Ti for $500, it's definitely worth $100 for me to play Metro with ray tracing.

Buying a 2000 series card for "ray tracing" makes no sense. gonna need a 3080 at least.

That's what I thought until I saw Metro Exodus. I wouldn't be surprised if there's not another good showing like Metro until the 7nm cards are out, but this is a hobby, not a business - financial justification is different for everybody. Paying $100 for ray tracing in one game is worth it for me, because I love the Metro games and the implementation looks great. Doesn't mean it's worth it for anybody else.

I see what you're saying but even if I had a million bucks and was a "metro fan" I'd just wait and play it on the 3000 series or whatever they decide to call it. yes it seems to have better performance than v. but nothing to crow about. unless you're gonna sli. which is another ball game.
