Here's my stupid question of the day. I have a new Fractal R3 to replace my NAS's Antec 300. I've got Ubuntu Server and MDADM set up with a 5x 1TB RAID6 configuration. Here's the specific details about my MDADM configuration.
Since I have everything being identified by UUID, does hard drive order even matter? I don't want to screw up the array just because I cross a SATA cable or two accidentally. That being said the only data on the array is backups for other PCs anyway. Easily to recreate if there's a problem but it would be a pain.
Still assume I need to keep the boot HDD on the same SATA port as well? Or do I just need to make sure BIOS are set to boot to the right hard drive?
Code:
> cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [linear] [multipath] [raid0] [raid1] [raid10]
md0 : active raid6 sdd1[2] sde1[3] sdf1[4] sdb1[0] sdc1[1]
2930280960 blocks super 1.2 level 6, 128k chunk, algorithm 2 [5/5] [UUUUU]
Code:
> cat /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf
ARRAY /dev/md0 UUID=9de23957:7afe0da8:489f8918:50727432
PROGRAM /home/raid/raid-email.py
