This is weird and I've searched and searched and could not find a solution.
I have 2 HDs, an OS drive and a storage 1TB drive that has programs and files on it. I just upgraded the OS drive to a 120gb SSD and figured I would grab some important folders off the 1TB and then reformat it, clearing all the programs and junk installed on it. However, when I go to access the directories I need, I don't have access!!!
Now, when I go to the Owner tab to change ownership, I can't do squat. It says "You only have permission to view the current owner of DIRECTORY" and I see my user on the list but it's grayed out.
Tried TAKEOWN in cmd launched as admin but still got access denied.
What the heck? I know the simplest solution would be to throw the old HD back in and boot back up with the old install of Win, but I swapped in a new CPU as well so when I try to boot into it, it BSODs immediately.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!
