The past couple of days I have noticed a new CPU block over at Performance PCs branded TechN. They look to be high quality, the AM4 version is a huge monolith. I dont regret my recent Optimus purchase, but these would have been in the running. Igor's lab has a review from October, they beat heatkiller 4 and EK quantum. Here is the link

Made in Germany.

I got one of each but since my 5950x makes me want to punch myself in the face and I have no other am4 blocks at the moment I can't really compare it to anything lol. They do come with actual instructions which is nice vs optimus lol as well as the cover on the cold plate is not hot garbage. Eventually I'll put on one of the intel blocks but meh too busy right now.

I have only seen a review of the Absolute Threadripper 3+ and there it was claimed that Optimus was giving a 10 degree C improvement over other fine competitors CPU blocks - if your AM4 block from Optimus provides similar performance you are still ahead, given this one is only a few degrees better in the link

So Igor's lab talked about the high quality of the finish as well as the fact that the AM4 version was massive. How is the quality and can you provide some pics of the packaging etc.

I, in no way, regret my Optimus purchase. It is an incredibly high quality product that looks great. I am just happy that we are seeing some serious competition in cpu blocks and gpu blocks. I have a Heatkiller 4 and that thing is high quality but far from elegant. I have always liked EK cpu blocks for the "blocky" look. The TechN blocks are the first I have seen where the AM4 block looks cooler than the intel solution. I think that there is room for a boutique in Germany and the USA and a ton of people will go for them over the other guys based on looks and performance. That is where the Heatkillers have fallen short, IMO, looks.

Theres a review on guru3d against the optimus and both ek blocks and heatkiller i believe. Didnt have time to grab the link.

The other reviews posted photo / teardown. Quality is not any better or worse than optimus both are excellent well made blocks but these are a little easier to take apart and put back together with how o ring is held in place in a channel vs just kind of hanging out on the optimus lol. The backplates are nice and have an insulation later on the bit that touches the board. The screws are really nice as well. Lighting is nice and uniform too, is 12v 4 pin style. The random o-ring is what is used to keep the rgb cable coiled up lol.
