My son has a Dell studio xps 9100 series tower. it came with a crappy ati 5670 video card that has given nothing but troubles since we bought it. I want to upgrade him to an Nvidia based video card for his gaming. He plays gta 4 and farcry and what not. Im looking for a good midrange graphics card that is around 200.00 or less and am looking for suggestions for a nvidia card that will work well in his system for his needs.. thanks,,

P.S. He has a 525W power supply..

i'd agree. if you're looking for a good mid-range card go with one of the 560 versions.

keep in mind there are multiple types of 560 out there:
560
560 Ti
560 448 core

Those are arranged from least to most powerful. You should be very happy with any of those as a solid mid-range card that should work great. I just thoughtbut just keep in mind that those are all actually different cards when comparing prices and shopping.

I got my brother a Zotac GTX 560 (non-Ti) for $140 new after $30 MIR a few months ago and he has a similiar PC build as yourself.

Win 7 Ultimate x64
Quad Core Q9550 3.8 GHZ processor
8GB Memory
650W Power Supply
Asus Motherboard
1 TB HDD
PCI-E 2.0 16x
Samsung 22 " Monitor with a 1680 x 1050 max resolution

He is able to play WOW maxed out with avg FPS of 60.

Therefore if you want to spend a little less than $200 a regular GTX 560 should be good.

WHAT type of psu does your pc have ? You may not have enough 6 or 8 pin power connectors to support newer video cards. Can you post its model or specs ?
