Okay, fine, with all the rumors about hardware to be released next month, and assuming that they do half the things they claim to be able to do, how much money am I going to need on June 1st to build a 939 pin 64 bit computer with a nv40 or R420 (depending on which one is actually released and works best) system? Anyone think I can do it for around 2000 or am I going to need 3000?

no. at the current rate that computers are being developed, they're only going to get larger and more expensive until they fill entire rooms and are owned by only the seven richest sultans in the world.

i think you'll be fine. :)

I definately do not think you will need to spend more than 2000.

As long as you put it together yourself (which will save you money), and if you forgo the absolute top of the line 939-pin proc (instead going with one small step down), you should surely be able to spend less than 2000, I think.

ok...
lets see...

(prices of current hardware from newegg)
R420/NV40 should be around $400
Socket 939 mobo should be about $150
Socket 939 processor should be around $300-400
1 gig (2X512mb) of DDR400 will run about $220-240
Nice case is around $100
Antec PSU will be about $70
DVD-ROM and CDRW - $30-40 each
SATA 160GB Harddrive - $130

Total is roughly $1600

So you should most definetly be able to get a nice system for under $2,000.

SATA 160GB Harddrive - $130 ..... this system would deserve a 10,000 rpm raid setup I think

would be a shame to have that kinda setup with no sound... +80 - 100 or so for a revo or a2.
