New Silverstone FT02

That's a little odd. I tried a few different allen sizes before making my post, couldn't find one that fits. Either it's a nonstandard size or I just don't have the correct size allen tool.
 
Probably not the right one. When I went to Home Depot, I bought the Metric version to fit the panel.
These are foreign cases so stuff like LL and SS goes by metric threads and sockets.

Does anyone know where I can get the entire control panel on the top of the case where the USB ports, power button, and reset button are located?

A few weeks ago the USB ports stopped working. I also have a lot of problems with the power button. If I ever turn the PC off I have to hit the power button about 20 times and get it just the right way for it to turn the PC on. Very annoying.

I looked at Silverstone's site and didn't find anything. Figured I would try here before emailing them.

Where does a person get that white wire kit? Came with the power supply?

Somewhere in this thread I saw an actual extension kit, but I haven't been able to find such on google. Where does a person buy an extension kit for the psu cables, to make them more organized? Or do you just buy each individual extension cable from Newegg or such?

They are Corsair kits and you can buy them directly from Corsair.

I am having a hard time finding any pictures/evidence of people installing a 280mm radiator (corsair h110, nzxt x60, or custom) in the FT02. I want to know if this is possible without modding the case. Anybody know?

The hell is it with people trying to shove water-cooling parts into a premiere air-cooling case...

Because you can fit a massive radiator in there and have the same/better cooling as some "premier water cooling" cases. I haven't missed switching from my TJ07 to my FT02 one bit, and the FT02 cools better with less noise than my TJ07 did with 8 GTs on a 4x120 and 2x120 radiator.

Well cpu and gpu upgrades are so boring in last years that i started thinking about putting H320 to get some extra performance :)

So anyone knows if you could put Swiftech H320 into FT2 and use 180 fans + 3x120 as push-pull configuration ?

Why Silverstone haven't come out with 180mm AIO coolers for this wonderful case is quite beyond me. One cooler for the CPU and one each for two GPUs via the NZXT Kraken and any gamer would be in clover.

If they did make such a cooler, it will need redesigned 180 fans. Fan + rad + pump = $120+. It wouldn't sell well (can only be used with 180 fans).
You're better off making a custom 540 loop or use the conversion kit for 120 fans.

You'd need VERY short graphics cards and you'd need a short PSU with minimal cable overhang (the amount of cable that needs to stick out before being able to bend out of the way).

I've never seen the point of massive cooling like that for the cpu. Even with just a true my delidded i7 3770k was held back by voltage and not temps.

Its the video cards that make water cooling worth it imo.
 
I'm planning a build with FT02 and 290x, and I have some questions with the FT02 and radiators.

Do you guys think there is enough space to install a 290x with NZXT G10 and Corsair h75 radiator, with those radiators mounted on those 180mm fan?

btw, I'm planning of mounting a h100i (for cpu) on those 180mm fan as well. But since there is only a pair of radiator mount come with the case, is there any way to mount those 2 radiators together with just a pair of radiator mount? thx~~

Did not realize until I saw this post and googled. I was so happy for a second when I thought it was going to be a FT-02 successor and was hoping for it to be a bit bigger so I can WC it. The FT-02 is just so hard to WC, they shrunk it so much that it doesnt meet my needs for ssds/hdds.

Get the TJ11

Looking for a cheaper version? Doesn't make sense to make really. The TJ11 and FT02 are both great on air and can be watercooled.
A $350-400 in between wouldn't sell well form a business point of view.

Why get a FT02-XL when for an extra $150 I can get a TJ11, or Why spend $150 more when the FT02 is smaller, cheaper and can be watercooled also.

Why water-cool a premier air-cooling case at all? Why put a turbo in a minivan?

...why not just get a case that's designed for water-cooling if that's what you want to do? Sheesh.
 
I am going on 4+ years with this case (longest ever, but for the price I am going to use it till it turns to dust) and it is still a dream to work with.

List of work included;
New GFX card
New HDDs
Re-Run SATA cables for all 5 HDDs and 2 SSDs.
Swapped out one of the fans (not an AP, mine was one of the first run of cases) with an AP-182 hoping to help with my GFX card temps and provide some acoustic masking.

Everything was super smooth, even swapping out the 180mm fan. Very impressed with the build quality and ease it is to work with this case. Its still true that it would be nice to have more space behind the mobo tray, but with some zip ties and patience it can all fit.

As an aside, the AP-182 can move some serious air but is quite loud at max. Seems to be fairly innocuous around 60% though and still moving more air than the fan it replaced that was running on hi.

I guess I am just trying to say that this case still rocks, that is all.
 
My rearmost fan (below the CPU) seems to be dying, as I have to crank up the voltage to get it to spin at even 650~ RPM. Considering replacing all three fans with AP182s.

Honestly, if this case had better wiring routes along the back, it would be perfect and I'd keep it into perpetuity.

The AP-182s can deliver a lot of air but they are pricey. I was only doing 1 fan, so I could justify it, but would have to think long and hard about replacing all 3. Aesthetically I would like to (one white fan in a case with a window!) but I dont think performance wise it would be worth it.

I think you would see a couple degrees drop at the most with the AP-182. I am noise averse, so I dont get the full potential of the fan, but did get a little boost in cooling. Depnding on what fans came with you case you could consider the AP181 at half the price. Not as much control on the fan speed though. The newer cases came with the AP181, mine had the FN series fan I think.
 
If you already have a good fan controller the AP182's don't really make sense unless you need the extra rpms (and don't mind the noise) over the AP181. They do look nice with a white/black color scheme though!

Like I said, on the one channel, the dial has to be brought up near max to get the one fan to spin at all. And it won't spin when I plug directly into the motherboard. My conclusion is that the fan wiring has gone bad.
 
Hopefully it's cool to necro up this old thread but just had an excellent experience with silverstone.

Going to do a full rebuild later this year and was poking around to see how things were going fan wise etc.

Realized I didn't have enough quick releases to handle my plans and that the filters could use some replacing. Couldn't find them easily on Amazon etc so I dropped Silverstone an email via their contact link. About half an hour later, was completely taken care of for spare parts for a few bucks.

Still the best case I've ever owned several years later.
 
Guys, would a Gigabyte G1 970 be a bad choice of card for this case?

My 780ti has been delayed and considering the G1 but concerned about cooling
 
The G1's heatpipe design is fine for the 90 degree orientation, and the case's intake/exhaust setup will deal with a single cards heat dump with little to no difficulty. Actually, even with a heatsink that would have heatpipes at the top in this case, the quality of wicking material used matters. For example, the Thermalright Shaman cooler was confirmed by many people to work with no issues in the FT02.

Haven't actually seen any aftermarket heatpipe configs that would conflict with the 90 degree orientation in quite some time.

I just ordered this case...finally...after starting this thread in 2009 and 1,456,896 views, 3,718 replies, original poster has decided to purchase the case. lol! Need more video card cooling than my FT01 provides quite frankly. Hoping this case will allow the GTX980s to do their thing.
 
Picked up a FT02B locally last night. What can I say, I missed my old FT02B-W. No window this time around, but I prefer that.

My old revision had the AP181s but no USB 3.0, that came later.

Differences I've noticed:

- Panel screws come with small rubber o-ring style washers to prevent paint damage by over-tightening
- HDD trays have a revised rubber washers - the old one version was prone to falling out, as well as warping when tightened.. the material was too soft.
- AP181s were revised to have a solid channel between the screw holes (think Gentle Typhoon), meaning you can't zip-tie cables to them without breaking out the dremel.

Overall an interesting case to revisit, albeit rather monolithic by today's standards.
 
I've had this case for a very long time, still using the first revision with USB 2.0. I'll be replacing my i7 2700k and Asus ROG Maximus IV Extreme-Z with a 5930k and Asus X99 Deluxe when I get home from work today, so I'm looking forward to building in my awesome FT02 again. Already got a Strix 980 in there and even though it's not a rear exhaust blower design cooling still seems great; under load it barely reaches 70 degrees C. My only regret was not getting a modular PSU because behind the mobo tray with the little amount of space for cable management, my back side panel does bow out just a tad.

If anyone is interested in seeing pics I can take some as I go along even though it's nothing really special other than having much more recent hardware inside of an FT02B-W (sticking with my Zalman CNPS9900MAX cooler for now unless temps are significantly higher than my 2700k). Granted pics would be from my HTC One M7 with the great purple/pink hue that I'm desperate to replace when my contract is up lol.
 
5930K / X99-Deluxe is what I threw into mine. It was a pleasure to rebuild in after playing around with much smaller cases for a long time. You can likely still pickup a USB 3.0 I/O from Silverstone if you are interested. That's how I got it for my first FT02.

There are indentations on the inside of the case where thicker cables can be routed to alleviate routing from the back. Yes, they'll be visible especially if they aren't sleeved in black, but they make life much easier if you don't have cable clips specifically.(these style, for reference)

This little guy can also be incredibly useful if you have a bunch of 3.5" drives - http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=304

If you have the earlier AP181's you can also route GPU cables along the edges of the fans and cable tie them to secure them in place.
