New Silverstone FT02

I got and love mine, but I noticed that power and reset buttons are flimsy. They are working fine. However, it bothers me because this tells me its quality is poor.

What do you think? Is it normal for buttons on other cases are flimsy?

Well the reset/power button is easy to hit by mistake. But I'm aware of it when I dust down the case. Its still their best case. The FT04 would of been good had they put the ports on the top vs the side.
 
This is how my FT-02 looks like after last weeks upgrade:



Trying to figure out my first foray into DIY custom water cooling loop for the CF 290s.
 
added blocks to the motherboard, plus got my hands on some NoiseBlocker Multi-Frame PWM fans and a Phantek 140 PWM - with all PWM fans, there is no need for a fan controller - just using SpeedFan for minimums and automatic speed control according to temps

Does anyone know if you can mount a CPF51, CPF52, or CPF53 in this case?

The 53 looks like it'd work airflow wise, but I'm unsure if it would fit in the slots properly. It looks like the 51 is most likely to fit from pics.
 
The red interior ones were gorgeous. Too bad they're all gone.

I was considering an FT01 for a secondary machine, but there isn't much discussion or love for Silverstone's other cases aside from RV02, RV03, FT02, and FT03 it seems. The FT04 petered out quickly.

Your build is awesome NickJames. The orange works.

Every other case is either butt ugly (the Ravens) or lacks functionality. Just hope Silverstone keeps the FT-02 updated.

I disagree that the Raven line is ugly, at least the RV-02. The HAF-X is ugly, the RV-02 just uses plastic.
 
I like most of the Ravens, and also think that the HAF line entirely is hideous. The RV01 is the best looking raven I think, too bad the interior is meh.

I don't think the FT01 lacks aesthetics or function. I honestly can't come up with a reason it's not more popular. Maybe it's a combination of pricing and the original release having that issue with the fan filter.
 
Both of the 180mms on the FT01 are intake. No bottom or side fan really means you can't have all the 3.5" bays in and a GPU setup though.
 
Honestly, the only cases in the fortress and raven line that I've found to be impressive are the RV-02 and FT-02. They really could stand to improve upon that design and just make the perfect case. I don't see the need to try these radically different designs that seem to be worse than their predecessor.

For aircooling it might be tough to improve upon the FT-02. I would love to see a version made with water cooling in mind.

If I could fit a 420, 120, and an mcp35x2 I would be happy.

I love the FT-02 and still think that its one of the best looking cases on the market. Just could be better with water.

How so? I'm really curious about this. Can you get more into specifics? Did the dual 180 perform worse than a 360?

I see what you mean but the both of those required a ton of modding. I don't want to remove the hdd cage and try floating an mcp-35x like in the first build. The pump will never be as quiet as one thats completely decoupled. The lack of space for HDDs hurts too.

The second build is a better option but is the modded HDD cage as quiet? What about a pump mounted onto a drive bay res? I haven't heard the greatest things about those either.

Then there still isn't a ton of room for rads without some pretty extensive modding. I have an 80mm thick 240mm rad with fans in push/pull and a 420mm 60mm thick rad with fans in push pull in my current case with no modding and still have room for an hdd cage. That was just enough to keep a pair of r9 290x as cool as I would like at the fan speeds that I would like even without extra core voltage.

I wouldn't want to lose a ton of rad space and functionality by moving to an FT-02. Sure they can be made to look great but they don't seem as functional when water cooling especially for people who swap hardware often enough. I like to keep my options open.
 
Yep, that's why I haven't went back to the FT02 and decided on Caselabs, because of the options and room to WC.
Those builds are sexy but I see a ton of compromises I wish not to make. If I want to put a 690 or 7990 on water, they will not fit.
Also getting the bubbles out of the loop looks like a PITA.
 
I'm not a water person, which is why I think the FT02 is awesome. So to see water lovers refute it doesn't entirely surprise me. Caselabs cases are gorgeous though, and I do see why they're the holy grail of water cooling.
 
Oh, the FT-02 is the best case on the market for blower style coolers imo. I loved that case.

I would even be willing to make a few compromises to get it going well on water. Its the only case that I've owned that I don't mind having on my desk. I like the form factor. Its longer and not as tall as a standard tower.

The FT02 is still favorite case to date. Let's see if my CL case can beat it when it arrives.
If the TJ11 was $400, I would have bought it long ago.
 
Yeah, I know. That TJ11 looks like it would be perfect. Its just too bad that the price is so obscene.

I really wish that I kept my FT-02. I agree with you. I've owned my fair share of cases and the FT-02 was probably my favorite.

I just want to see a TJ11 in person. What if I go temporarily insane and order one?

IF, I decide to buy one pictures would be necessary, because I may return it after I come back to my senses.
But really besides the FT02, I need this to be my last case for a few years, so the price isn't a big deal.

I've lost so much money from reselling cases with low resell value and high shipping costs, I could have bought the TJ11 with my loses.

Edit: I'm going with the TJ11 case. I'll buy it once I get all of my components together. Not in a rush to have a $600 case just sitting in a box.

Yep, it can house any build.

If I wouldn't have sold my FT02-WRI, I wouldn't have went through so many cases over the last two years.
Having to replace anything becomes expensive. With every year goes by I still have the TJ11, that's money saved IMO.

A person that bought a TJ07 in 2005 will still have a better case than anything being released right now, even from Corsair. Almost 9 years of use!
I feel the FT02 and TJ11 have the same potential.
 
IDK, the TJ-07 while being a very nice case especially for its time requires some extensive modding in order to be able to house the rads that the Xigmatek elsylum or Switch 810 can at a fraction of the price.

Then to get the TJ-07 to do what most want for watercooling using replacement parts you could easily spend what you can on a TJ-11.

I really like the 900d. Its a great case. I just like having the door on the opposite side and having a shorter and longer case. I love that design.
 
Slight mods, but great ones. Reverse ATX, MurderMod and 480 rads.

The 900D was definitely on my list until the quality control issues showed up before they were shipped.
Packaging had to be redesigned to compensate for how fragile the materials and construction was during shipping. Customers are still receiving damaged units, even reviewers.
Panels are either tough to remove or latches not holding panels in place, cheap front bezels, cracked windows, frame by PCI slots make it difficult for certain cards to be easily installed etc.

The 900D tries to be everything at a cheaper price point. Usually, these super towers are $400+. The Cosmos II suffered from this also.
That's why Caselabs and the TJ11 are admired so much, because they didn't cut any corners on materials and build quality.

Thanks, they're G. Skill RipJaws with the heatsink replaced with some aftermarket copper plated ones from Newegg. Wish I could do something about the ZXR ribbon cable though.
 
I haven't kept up on the 900d. Thats too bad. I want a case with solid build quality. Build quality and looks are the only reasons that I would consider moving away from the Elysium.
 
A couple of the rivets holding the clear plastic on the side cover of my RV02 just sort of… fell off. Anyone seen this before? Is this RMA-able?
