New Silverstone FT02

I have my FT02 hooked up to a Scythe Kaze Master fan controller.

One of the 180mm fans spins at a max 690RPM. The other two 1200RPM.

Why is one fan refusing to spin faster?

Sounds like you have the physical speed switch on that fan set to "low" mode. Low mode is 700rpm.

"Don't Take It Personal"

Isn't this section to show pictures of one's FT02 Custom Build Rig!?...

To be criticizing on how much a person spends with his hard earned money on what, when or why!?..Is either "Jealous" or just "Mad" that someone has money to burn on what they like!...

I always come back to FT02 to see more custom builds & discuss ideas & solutions to improve the FT02 Build!...

Who gives a fuck about how much spending goes on!?...Create a New Topic on that matter else where!

Show us more FT02 Builds!:D

yep, great job. i really like the silver ft02's, and you did a nice job rigging that silver front bezel. it always looks odd to me when people have black bezel optical drives in their silver chassis.

i've noticed that amazon has not carried ft02's for a while... i hope i didn't miss the boat.

We could hope that Silverstone would release a new model with an eighth slot for triple/quad graphics cards, that fixes the fit of the drive bay plates, and that improves the 'hot swap' drives.

The most important thing I would say for good cable management is patience.

I must have routed each cable 3-4 different ways to see what fit best and to keep my mobo side panel from bulging. Behind the mobo tray is not pretty at all, buy I used the smallest sized zip ties I could find once I found the correct routing of the cables to keep them in place and to ensure they looked good on the other side. Everything that is visible is tidy and I did not have to use zip ties for the GFX card and mobo power on the front side of the mobo tray. Mobo power come from behind and the GFX power is along the top of the fans. This was the best route for me.

As for the length of your S12 cables (is that 600W? I think I had that one) I cant comment on that as I never had it in the FT-02. I will say that I made sure that the PSU I bought for my FT-02 build was noted as having longer cables. Running along the back of the mobo to the HDDs isn’t that far, but if you want to keep it neat and allow multiple paths to keep the cables spread out and the left hand panel from bulging, the extenders might be a smart move.

I would like to know what the thumb screws are for as well.

Make your cable worries go away with these:

Screw them in the back of the mobo in the unused mobo screw holes. Order about 15-20. My old FT02 build was painless with those. You still need to put some thought into spreading out the cables, but it was so easy with these, all it took was time.

Also, buy plenty of Sata Power extention cords.

I didn't find this to be an issue with Seasonic's PSUs (X-750, X-1050). The Corsair HX850 I had in there could've benefitted from one.

...or go to the electrical wiring aisle in Home Depot / Lowes and buy a bag of 20+ for about what 5 or 6 would cost you from there.

Sweet product, thanks for the link. I will have to get some and try them out.

Didnt think to look at a Lowes/Home Depot, seems like stuff here is always on a slightly larger scale than what is required. Will take a look.

I will have to get some and try them out. The rats nest of cables behind my mobo tray isnt visible, but I know its there.... Would be nice to get it sorted out.

Does Silverstone sell this case with the AP182s now? Anyone using the AP182s? How are they?

Not shipping with AP182s yet.

I'm testing AP182s currently. They come in a much more comprehensive package compared to how the AP181s came. Hope to have the review up here in a week. They move some monster air!

Are the cables on the 182s sleeved or still that ungodly mess of wires that the older fans were

Windows does not recognize any USB devices plugged in to the left-most USB port on the front panel. The right port works fine. Should I RMA?

Only in White!?...Hope Not!...Wish they made AP led fans!

I can't seem to find the FT02B or FT02S(preffered) without window and with USB3 anywhere in canada. Only shop is newegg.ca with over 45$ shipping... Wish I could find somewhere a little bit cheaper in shipping but if I can't find anything... I'll have to buy it from there -_- Anyone know where I could get it cheaper?

Yup, white only. I was kind of bummed at first too, but after installing them it actually added to the aesthetics of my case better and helped my lighting effects more haha.

They have to be high. No way is it worth even half of that. I'd take 4 Panaflos or 3 Deltas over that thing and goddamn day.

Why would I want a 182 over what came with the FT02? What does it offer? Do I have the 181s by default?

Thansk!

AP182 has ball bearings instead of a sleeve bearing so it should last longer. It also includes a variable resistor fan control knob, so you can adjust the rpm of the fan from 500-2000rpm instead of either 700 or 1200rpm like on the AP181. This is handy if you don't already use a fan controller with your AP181 since I feel at 700rpm you can definitely up the speed to get better cooling without noticing a significant noise increase.

The FT02 ships with AP181 fans.

No, but they move far far more air than it does with a similar amount of noise. To be honest I've never been impressed by the APs in my FT02.

Well I'm impressed with these AP181 do to the fact that its the best 180mm fans out there for a unpopular size fan, unless you know of another brand 180mm fans that are better? @ 1200 rpm / 130 CFM...Let me know please
cause I'm looking for same if not better with Blue LED...

Ill post more pics with case thats actualy clean and more zoomed in, but that was after installing my new RP-452 res.

Curious as to why you had the line from the CPU block go all the way around to the front of the GPU block. Does that block not have ports on the back?

Hehe, no it does not its a block for asus DC2 cards and only comes with one sided ports, ill make sure to buy ref for my 780 >.>

If you wanted you could drop a 90 elbow on the gpu so its pointed at the window and then bend it over to the cpu block. I am running a mcw-60, which has its barbs pointing toward the window, on mine in this case and had plenty of space to bend it without kinking the tubing. Just a thought if its bothering you. Functionally tho it won't make a difference.

How's that dbl 180 rad treating you? Keep things nice and cool?

Anyone has one of their fans making excessive noise? I looked around in the case and narrowed it down to the center fan in the bottom, makes an annoying clicky noise. I took it out, thoroughly cleaned it and it still makes a odd noise.

Mine have made an annoying clicking noise before also. I've found that it's a stray "hair" sticking out of the fan filter. If you take the filter out from under the fan, does the noise go away? Check for any little pieces of filter sticking up on the edges and cut them off.

Updated rig with an all in one cooler for the GPU as per image below.
Being a stickler for silence, I now struggle to hear my rig which is only arm's length away. This is without sacrificing temps as per the second image.

The Noctua NF-f12 are very impressive - fantastic static pressure for rads. I have brackets from (UN)Designs coming to mount the GPU rad in the 5.25" bay without having to make any mods to the case to finish of the upgrade.

With only 1 x HDD and 2 x SSD's mounted in the drive sleds - plenty of cool air reaches the GPU rad. With side panels on I can feel the heat escaping from the top of the case with more force than it used to when I was using the DCii cooler on the GPU. At the same time, internal temps are now lower - so happy with the result.
(Note: AMD cards run about 15 degrees warmer when running 3 or more monitors - so I have 6 to 7 degree drop in idle/low work load temps)

Would like to know if its really worth getting that Arctic Accelero Hybrid?...I remember CoolIT System had the best setups until they Soldout to other company!...Now we cant purchase directly from them!

Because the artic hybrid is designed to fit a range of cards, it's a little fiddly to fit - and you are paying for all thebits and pieces to fit many cards

better value for equal performance is purchasing a set of RAM and VRM heatsinks, a 92 mm fan, an Antec 620/920 etc all-in-one cooler and a bracket from DWood at overclock.net

The end result is the same, but the cost is lower.

see example below
