New Silverstone FT02

how much was it? and how long did it take to get the replacement? i accidentally scratched mine while cleaning it with a stupid lysol sheet =( nothing noticeable but the fact that i know i scratched it bugs me lol.

Same here!...knowing that I can see it keeps fuckin' with me:eek:!...lol...I don't understand why these companies have more options when it comes to selling accessories for these cases!?
its a perfect way for them to make more money & its a perfect way for us to get more into modifying our cases!...If we fuck up @ least we can buy & replace that part!:D

Actually the screws are down tight. I can't go any further and the screw has been eating into the black paint and there is still plenty of play regardless....

What bugs me more the fact that I spent $200+ and they did not bother to design the bay cover screws correctly, one side is held in place via screw hole, the other side doesn't have a screw hole so they secured it in whatever the easiest and laziest place that happened to be there.

I would imagine that in order to sell a certain part for a reasonable price they have to make a large number of them, and that number is usually higher than the number of people who want to buy a part like that.

Yeah I hear you on that....And it still suck cause your stuck with what ever happens to your case after the 30 day return policy!...You can only wish a 3rd party would make'em & sell'em like MurderMod did for the TJ07:D

which screws are you using? if you look at a bay cover (i have an unused one in my hand), the correct screws will thread into the holes tightly - is this the same for your bay cover? (try it out of the case)

if the screw holds via the thread, then the only reason for the bay cover not fit is if it is not physically wide enough. The distance between the two inserts of the bay cover (when they are at right angles to the front cover) is 14.5 cm - is this the same for you?

I too only have a hole on the right side of the case to hold the bay cover. The left side is a slot.
 
I'm using the stock screws that comes with my case. Actually i remember when unboxed my FT02 the day I got it, 3 of 5 bay covers were lose/knocked out of place, thought it was a little odd. The screws used on mine are crap, they are not shaped uniformly, too short, & lack thread definition, I'll take some pictures when I get home from work.

When the bay covers are installed and aligned relative to all the mounting points, there are gaps as large as 3mm between both top and bottom, I can see right through to the innards of the case. My Lian Li covers are flush.

I could have a poorly manufactured unit, in fact, the screws of the outer (bent unibody) hull also came loose from the primary chasis. The screws used to mount those are also poorly threaded which causes them to not fashion as tight against the chasis. I promptly removed them and replaced with some proper threaded case screws and now are flush and tight.

Could be poor quality control or production variance of the OEM that manufactured my unit. Kinda poor for the asking price...Love the thermal/acoustic design, but execution is really rough. I will think twice the next time I buy Silverstone goods.

The screws should be the same screws that mount the motherboard

Take photos of this and send to Tony at Silverstone (on this forum) - I would measure the bay covers too - and send the dimensions. Silverstone are easy to deal with - just have to let them know

I have worked with a few of the FT02 - I once lifted a case up by the rear "handle" when it was full of components - the force popped unibody away from the chassis .... totally my fault, but goes to show, that "handle" isn't actually a handle - the case needs to be handled with care or you can break it at the joins
 
Hi,

Well after reading this and many other threads about the FT02
i decided to get myself one with the window to replace my Cosmos 1000 ,
and i love it , much much better airflow and looks real good , pretty quiet too
I'm still waiting for some cables to arrive then i'm going to finish the cable management.

Im going to start my first build with this case soon. I plan on getting the AX850 because I like the individually braided cables. Good cable management is something I want to nail the first time around. So my question is what other cables will be showing through the window so I can go ahead and get custom ones. Sorry for being a noob
 
I built a fairly quiet system in this case not long ago. I've had quite a few cases over the years, some cheap, some not so cheap. This is by far the best case of them all.

Nice optical, I'm rocking the same. I'm having a couple of issues with my bluray drive though...
I'm waiting for corsair to fix their "corsair link" and also get rid of my bay res so I can have the perfect front panel
 
Oh i forgot to drop my pics into this thread as well. Here's what I put together a couple weeks ago. Once i decide how to route my watercooling and acquire a dremel I'll be installing that soon enough. That's why you see the terrible stock HSF :)

edit: I wanna pickup a corsair link (once they work) instead of the fan controller and replace the bay res with a internal one because it makes too much noise with the unibody. It's the only thing in my case making noise and it is really annoying.
Once I do it will be a perfect front panel :D

I did have some problems with the a build in an FT03 (which has a built-in slot bay) that I did a while back but this one I've had no issues with, neither with the drive nor the bay.

The drive and the bay are perfect. It's an issue with w7 I'm having. I had the same problem with my standard 5.25 BD drive.

Ask me a while back and I would have agreed.

Like how I thought "corsair link" was a complete waste of money when I first saw it and now I can't wait for them to fix their software so I can get one.

I've found cool gadgets and visual additions more and more appealing. I bought a new psu just so I could get white cables, spent around 100 on the slotload setup and nearly $500 on watercooling just the cpu(so far).
Temps are great with a custom loop but if you rationalise the price vs performance it is insane.

I like getting upgrades for my computer though to buy a new gpu or chipset every 6 months or so would be more expensive and awfully boring.

I really like creating a build that I can admire every aspect of it, pretty much sums it up.
 
Was thinking of building in another FT02, but as soon as the FT04 comes out, I'm rocking that.

I actually don't mind some excessive cables here and there. If they are nice and sleeved that is.

I can be a break from the same old cable management you see in every rig in a "rate my cables thread"
I actually saw a big mountainmods watercooled rig with sleeved cables going everywhere and it looked fair cool.

This is a top-plate for the 120mm fan hole to mount the res with some ventilation.

Turns out the ventilation wasn't enough and I was having really high chipset temps (85'C NB) causing crashes in games.

The 80mm blower on the top mosfet (not pictured) that came with the mobo seems to have solved that. No real added noise and it does the job.

I was considering another FT02 (if I don't go FT04) for an Ivy Bridge build with an Asus ROG Maximus V Extreme mobo, pictured here on this thread I made:

But I'm worried about having only 7 slots on the FT02, will I be able to SLI two cards and use every expansion slot, or will I run into issues? I won't tri-SLI or run 4 cards, but I still want that board for other reasons and to have extra slot expansion ability if I want to add wifi, network cards, sound cards, plus up to two GPUs.

Never mind, I counted, as long as the first mobo pci slot lines up with the first pci cover on the FT02, I should be able to use the last PCI 3.0 expansion slot, if it's a single slot card.
 
Has anyone had any experience with comparing MSI Twin Frozr temps in the vertical orientation to the standard? I'm worried about the heat pipes since they would all be vertical.

So far as I know all modern heatpipe designs are orientation independent.

I have a SAPPHIRE Toxic edition vid card with heat pipes and performance is exceptional. I have wondered how a rear exhaust vid card would perform in this case, but since the custom fans are quieter and my rig stays very cool (even with case fans on low), I am super happy with my choice.
 
The Twin Frozr designs should not have any problems working in the FT02 since their heat pipes are orientated horizontally when installed.
