New SFF gamers case: presentation and advices

It's alive!

Update: It would appear I'm without a top cover. The guy has disappeared from all my contact lists for over a month.

:(

I can't order DaBox in the EU shop.. Whenever I try to add it to cart it says "parse error", and after that it keeps telling me "Hack attempt: "no default carrier""

HTTP Error 404. this is what happens when I drunk post...which is why I usually stay in GenMay when under the influence.

Is anyone else having problems getting the front panel audio to work? I get faint static plugging headphones into the pink port, and absolutely nothing from the green port. I really don't know how to determine if the issue is related to the motherboard (Gigabyte P55M-UD4) or the front panel header. The USB ports work just fine...

The same issue that PennDisc is having with audio I am experiencing on my side as well. It is only affecting the front audio, while the two USB ports around it are fine. As I frequently have to mute my volume and use headphones this is becoming quite an issue for me. Aside from that Da Box is performing quite admirably.

One question though: wanted to move the front black cutout on the DVD cover but the double sided tape may be the most adhesive thing I have ever used. Has anyone had any luck on ungluing it and putting it back? Any help on this subject is appreciated.

hair dryer or heat gun + screwdriver or razor blade to lift it at one edge. once you have an edge up, getting it with your fingers and pulling is easy.

Lil update on my build:
Good news: I assembled the waterloop, everything is good.
Bad news 1: No word on top panel.
Bad news 2: My motherboard and both GPUs are dead.

This sucks. :/

No leak..... I actually don't know what happened. 1st 480 crapped out before ever undergoing water, board crapped out after OCing GPU, and then GPU crapped out after testing in another board.

Don't know how that all happened. Got RMAs ongoing, we'll see how it ends.

Don't need the R3G, and don't want it. Different color scheme than what I am going for. The cooling is better on the R2G too, IMO.

thanks for your help sabregen, i will try that tomorrow. i saw the same thing when i googled the removal of double sided tape, but didn't know how comfortable I felt about heating up the case. looks like it shouldn't be a big deal.

i'll also try messaging matt wrt the front audio issue. hopefully they can send me a working one.

Hi everybody,

Working on these front audio ports.
I'm not sure where the problem is at this point... It's a big headache!

So can I check with everyone - which direction does their h50 blow? I know it should be into the case, but in the case of da box I fear that would be a problem for the ram and video card. I don't want to waste days on it when people have already experimented and found the best. I'm running an asus r2g with 6 dimms and a single 5970.

My current plan is to have the front and side fans sucking cool air in, and then to have the h50 at the back exhausting and the top cage fan also exhausting. I want to run at least 4ghz so definitely want top cpu cooling, but the ram worries me.

Thanks in advance

After using the H50, I can backup the notion that it's really not for high-end CPU OCing. It shines where you're limited on space around the CPU socket. It's not even quiet unless you're cooling a lower end CPU. I can't see it properly cooling a 4.0 Ghz i7. My Cogage Arrow cools at least 7 degrees better than my H50 did and is silent to boot. The other alternatives are the Noctua, Venemous X or the Scythe Mugen.

Well the Bit-tech review put it above air coolers, and cools my i5 750@ 29c idle with fan at 70pwm

What are the biggest coolers that fit this case? Now that people have been trying it out for a while.

I'm considering this case for a small build, but i'm still not entirely sure :
1) the price of 160/145€ is acceptable, shipping fee of 38.3€ is not that easy to get over, because that moves the case up to 200€ region :(
2) you should put the manual link somewhere on the website, i had to go back in this thread to find that the manual is there :D - http://www.lan-gear.com/manuals/Manual_dabox_en_fr.pdf
3) i got a Zotac GTS250 Eco with cooler replaced by L2 Pro. The card is only 19cm (7.48in) long, so i guess there won't be any conflicts with PSU as mATX boards are usually longer than this card by about 5cm :).
4) i wonder if i should get another PSU, i have a spare Seasonic S12II-330 Bronze, which is not modular and have only 6-pin PCI-E connector (the Zotac card required 8-pin). Of course i can use extensions or the bundled molex to 8-pin, but that will only add to the cable mess. On other side i won't use the HDD tray, as i will have only one 2,5" SSD in this case, so i have a bit more space if needed.

Shipping costs are indeed rather hefty, but then big packages are usually not cheap even domestically, let alone to other countries :( Personally I'd be more interested in the ITX case, but the problem of high shipping costs exist with it, too (although I suppose it should still be lower than with Da Box, given it's about half the size).

Aditional question - did anyone try the Coolink Corator DS cooler in this case (even better if on AM2/AM3 system).

The good news:
480 cleared EVGA, new one on the way!
New mobo here!
Other 480 is not dead like I thought!
Core i7 980x is in!
Top panel is on the way back!
This post came from the rig! All is well!

The bad news:
980x wasn't free.
