New Router, Ping goes to 999 occasionally, please help

Hey everyone,

I had a D-Link DGL 4500 router that worked perfectly until it died yesterday, so I replaced it with the Cisco Small Business WRVS4400N on a wired connection to my computer and cable modem.

The new router works fine, but whenever I play any game, once every few minutes my ping will go up to 999 and I'll get a "network disconnected" message. It happens very quickly, then resumes as normal. This never happened with my previous router.

I would really appreciate some thoughts on this because it's driving me nuts.

Some of the Linksys/Cisco Small Business products are decent (such as their RV0 series), but I have to say after setting up several of those 4000 series units for some clients, I quickly replaced them...had issues with them.

For giggles, have you tried to see if it has the latest firmware?

And what make/model "modem" is in front of it?

Hi, thanks - it has a Motorola SB5101. I'll check the firmware now

Tried everything, I returned it and now I have a DIR-655. So far, it seems good
