Hi everybody at [H]! I'm contemplating picking up a 9800 GX2 in the next few montjhs or so to replace my 8800 GTS 512MB. However, I only have an Enermax Liberty 620W PSU, would this be sufficient enough for a 9800 GX2? If not, what would you recommend I pick-up as far as PSU's go? Thanks!

I posted this in another thread, but it addresses your question. I am running a 9800 GX2 on Corsair HX520 right now and it is rock solid stable. I had to crank up the vcore a little since I have a Q6600 overclocked to 3.5, but other than that it runs great. I read the reviews on Johnny Guru's website and decided to go with an ULTRA X3 1000-Watt Modular Power Supply. I'm not too fond of Ultra power supplys, but he gave it an excellent rating and it only cost $189.99 with free shipping. It retails elsewhere for over $250.00. It also has native support for the upcoming 8 pin PCI-e standard. Here is a link to the website where I bought mine and to the review.

Hmm, so far so good, but I'd be anxious about tossing such an expensive video-card in with a 620W PSU... anyone else have any more input? thanks!

A single GX2 system isn't going to top 400 watts loaded. 620w is more than enough.

Why do you have something against the Corsair 620HX? It is a rock solid PSU.

What are you talking about? Did you quote the wrong post? I said 620 watts was more than enough, and I happen to love the 620HX and will be getting in my next rig, most likely.

What the heck? I did quote the wrong post.
