New Policies for Displays - Read Before Posting..!!

Forum participants - the mod and admin staff are aware of the increasingly hostile tenor of this forum. We've tried to moderate using our regular modding techniques, but we have a number of folks that consistently push the rules to the edge. At the end of the day it's about creating the best user experience we can. The forums are supposed to be helpful, informative, and fun. If a few members are consistently pushing the boundaries and jacking it up for the rest of the people, eventually the good ones are going to go away if we don't slam the brakes on the guys causing trouble.

Those brakes go on now.

From now on, there will be no more warnings, no more infractions. We have tried that and they have clearly not gotten the job done. Here are the new rules for this forum, effective until things are back under control.

• First infractable offense - 7 day ban.
• Second infractable offense - 30 day ban.
• Third infractable offense - 90 day ban, followed by a permanent ban from this forum or a complete forum ban, at the administrator's discretion (one of which is me).

This is not optional, and it's not up for discussion. The trolling, the personal insults, the little vendettas that have caused the mod staff so much headache are over. These forums are too big, too busy, with far too many members for the mod staff to spend hours trying to figure out who started what, and when they started it. I've said it many times; you guys can debate, even argue the facts all you want.....but when the rebuttals are completely unsubstantiated for the sake of provoking an argument, or when they turn personal, folks are going to get banned. Plain as that. None of this should come as a surprise; these are the rules you agreed to when you registered here.

The best part is....it is completely up to you. You have complete control over what you post. Contribute in a positive way or we will take whatever action is required.

I have merged the two 16:9 / 16:10 threads into a single thread.

Some new rules for that thread:

• Any aspect ratio debate will be posted in that thread, and that thread ONLY.
• Anyone who posts aspect ratio discussion in any other thread, or starts another aspect ratio thread, gets a 3-day ban. No debate.
• Anyone who flames anyone else in that thread gets a 5-day ban. No debate.
• If someone posts something you disagree with, you can either state your point with facts, or keep quiet.
• If someone is out of line, use the "Report Post" button.
• If you get into it with someone, you can count on the same vacation or ban as they'll get. I'm not going to spend hours anymore trying to figure out "..who started it..". I'm over it.

I have said it many times and I'll keep saying it until you guys get the message: You guys can debate, even argue the facts all you want. Simply disagreeing with someone doesn't mean they are a spammer or a troll...even if they are annoying. If they are annoying, my suggestion is to ignore them.

When it turns personal, folks will get infracted or banned until the point is made. Count on it.
